At this point, I think she’ll have an album out before Lindsey. Come June it’ll be 3 years since he released I Don’t Mind.

I'll eat my words in a year if I'm wrong. There's no new album. Maybe a new single track that she'll release. Meanwhile the stale tour continues to limp along.

It's got mold growing on it. Irving approved.

I think we'll know in three weeks if she's releasing an album either before the first show or the work week following it as the first show is on a Saturday.

I'm with you on the tour. One would think after two full years of touring the same Free Fallin, For What It's Worth, Wild Heart/Bella Donna show, she would have totally revamped her show. But she's just riding the legacy wave now - come breathe the same air as me while you still can since I'm almost 80! And don't you gaf about what songs I choose to sing.

She eventually stopped trying to make Hamburger Helper interesting for Lindsey and moved on toasting English muffin “pizzas” for Jimmy Iovine. (Why do we know these things? Oh yeah, cocaine.)

Nobody had to tell her anything. Street Angel, Trouble In Shangri-La, and Say You Will didn’t live up to her commercial expectations. In Your Dreams only reaffirmed that. That’s why she basically phoned it in for 24 Karat Gold. There’s literally no commercial upside for new music as far as she’s concerned. However, she’s still in high demand as a concert act.

Lindsey got the hint that his solo work was mostly for a niche audience in 1993 and stopped having commercial aspirations for it. I also think Lindsey and Christine understood their duet album wasn’t going to be a hit, but were doing it for the intrinsic value of creating something new with Fleetwood Mac.

I thought 24 Karat Gold was her best album since the Wild Heart. Stevie's rich. She doesn't need any more money and could record her songs without worry of commercial success. She is 75. She is not going to live forever.

24K is easily her worst sounding record. I'm shocked she let some of those vocals go out the door. Those gravely tracks on TISL sound better than The Dealer etc..

She had better material in the vault that she left behind i.e. Julia etc. Blue Water and Cathouse Blues just feel like scrap filler at best. The revised "Twisted" and "My Heart" was a complete mess as well (just my opinion) She removed the most interesting parts of both of those songs.

Trouble in Shangri-La sold pretty well, and got some of her best reviews since Bella Donna, so I think she was pleased with that album. As for 24 Karat Gold, I don’t think she phoned it in vocally, I think that’s just how she sounds now. I read she released 24 KG as a tribute to her mother, so I really don’t think think she would have phoned it in for that reason. It’s a no frills album and sounds just like what it was- a quickly recorded album she wanted to get out as soon as possible. But I don’t think the quality of the album was because she phoned it in. I think it was the best she could do.

But is not "quickly recording an album to get it out ASAP" by definition sort of phoning it in? We can argue over vocals. But the album tracks are pretty much identical to the demos. All The Beautiful Worlds became All The Horrible Worlds.
There are some great songs on it but they are not executed musically or vocally which you can say was "phoned in."
On the contrary nothing on Buckingham/McVie was even remotely "phoned in."

You both nailed it.

Didn't she say something about owing the record company another album per her contract and deciding to just slap together these demos into something (Or am I conflating that with one of her greatest hits packages?)

Anything remotely "artistic" in her work disappeared decades ago.... it's been "Show me the money" forever now.

Don't forget about the bologna sandwiches on white bread from the 7/11 at 3 am that she made for her crew during the late night recording of HAEWAFY. One of her impromptu RAL sessions she showed up for.
Oh yeah. That cocaine again. One helluva drug.

Stevie announced a dozen more tour dates. Any chance this year's tour supports a new album?

She has a lot of casino dates. Back to May 2005- May 2011 times!

She’s got to be finished with Fleetwood. They don’t offer her anything. She’s already out there touring and flashing her brilliant smile for the people.

I agree David. She's playing almost all of the same arenas as FM, with the exception of Centre Bell, Greensboro Coliseum, Fort Lauderdale/Sunrise Arena, Miami Arena, and a couple in NE. She begins a tour this month which runs right now into the summer. Will she have a new single?
