This just in... Canada declares war on New Jersey.

Actually I'm not a huge fan, but along with Flying High Again by Ozzy I am transported to a smoker's corner at a school for drop-outs whenever I hear Tom Sawyer by Rush. Maybe you hadda be there.

They just never did it for me. When Tom Sawyer was new, I swear I must have heard it on the radio 20 times a day! I prefer The Guess Who and Neil Young.

Me too.

More 1981...

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - I Love Rock 'n' Roll

Men At Work - Business As Usual

Depeche Mode - Speak & Spell

Phil Collins - Face Value

Styx - Paradise Theater

I bought them (on vinyl) anyway (plus Belladonna, Tattoo You and Beauty & The Beat) I bought Mick's The Visitor on vinyl later.

I know I'm going a little off topic here, but didn't MTV launch in 1981?
I had Paradise Theater (though I'm not a huge Styx fan) and Face Value.

Yes! Tattoo You One of the best albums of 1981

They had the top 40 countdown on Sirius xm 80s channel last week. The music blew my mind. Every song was so good. Everything from Joe Walsh solo, Stones, Alan Parsons Project, Moody Blues, Kim Carnes, etc

Gosh, I forgot about Alan Parsons Project! I was a fan of them back in the day! 'Wouldn't Want To Be Like You' is complete perfection, from start to finish. Even though I have a fondness for the Stones (and 'Tattoo You') my favorite is always going to be 'Exile On Main Street.'

I didn't realize 1981 was such a good year for music.
It was the year of:
Bella Donna
Hard Promises
Tatoo You
Escape
Diary of a Madman
Ghost in the Machine
Abacab

Live To Tell was so powerful! And yet oddly enough it was the Isla Bonita single I bought, I think it had the instrumental (sans vocal) on the b-side for all the would-be Madonnas out there.
