Please just let this thread die. I don't want to see this on the top of the Rumours forum anymore. A few of us tried to bury it at 1st but that didn't work. Lets just change the topic. Thank you.

It was all very bizarre. I don't think it was the concert reviews so much (you can read several of them in BLA & they're unusually positive) as the gossip column type of stuff. In other words, it wasn't the reviewers; it was the Patrick Goldstein "Pop Eye" type of stuff that frequently cracked weight jokes about her. She must have spotted (or been told about) a couple of those, & that planted the unhappiness & the unwillingness to continue the tour in her. |

I saw her at the Greek Theatre (in L.A.) on the Street Angel tour. It was one of the best I'd seen by her solo. She didn't LOOK all that great, but she SOUNDED wonderful. (it was also one of the best bands she'd assembled, too...Rick Vito, Russ Kunkel, Sara Fleetwood...just great!) My only complaint about that show was that it was too short (damned curfew at the Greek cut the show short)

What a crap thread! I'm sorry...don't mean to offend anyone but really!!! I have been fat and thin....i have recently lost close to 75lbs.....for me though and not for anyone else. I hate that there is such issue's about what people weigh. It is so unfair and so personal. I am still the same person I was when I was 75lbs heavier....my friends loved me then and love me now. I do have to admit my confidence was at rock bottom when I was big and I can imagine how it must have been for Stevie to walk out on stage not feeling comfortable with how she looked.

Cass Elliott
I had the privilege of seeing Cass Elliott once or twice on tv, and weight or no weight, she was an awesome singer.
Stevie may not be a young as she once was or as slender, but she is still an awesome performer. Since I did not have the opportunity to see Stevie on stage before her involvement with drugs, I see a great difference in her today as opposed to when I first saw her on stage which was 1987. She is so much more "present" now than when I first saw her. |
