Thanks for posting that. I had never heard that before. Was that from a Buckingham Nicks concert or a Fleetwood Mac concert? Very cool.

This sounds like a Buckingham Nicks performance. They joined Fleetwood Mac at the very end of 1974. It's fascinating hearing such an early live performance of Rhiannon; a song that has lived so many different lives since then.

It's interesting that she couldn't even really hit those high notes consistently even before FM recorded the song. I guess she had some lucky takes in the studio in 1975.
Without those high notes ("life," "stay"), the song just isn't that interesting to me live, despite all the added lyrics/drama. But it's still better live than "Dreams," which sounds pretty tedious to me without the high notes giving it an interesting melody. And I LOVE the studio version. Good thing her other two signature early Mac tunes, "Landslide" and "Gold Dust Woman," still sound great live. |

Oh, yea, I found this after it was mentioned by her former Fritz bandmate in an interview he did for that unauthorized bio that came out earlier this year. I think this might be a Fritz performance because he mentioned that she told them not to play it too quickly...or at least the guy from Fritz was still playing with them at the time this was performed. It's interesting to hear Stevie in this time of her career. She had so much country twang to her voice back then, too.

I've always found it interesting how the lyrics "Once in a million years…" never made it on to record but she clearly had written them already.
