Nice One!
I have found it a pain trying to match faces with painting textures. I have to ask, who is it? Not Marie Antoinette, is it? |

What I did, was extract the colors from the original painting's skin, and then literally paint it on the face, blending in darker and lighter colors using the smudge tool.

This brings the image closer to the background. Then in Image/Adjustment/Exposure and adjust Gamma Correction. Then under Adjustments use a combination of Hue/Saturation, Vibrancy and others. You can get very close in most cases to the background image. To match texture use a little Filter/Noise/Add Noise. But that's just me |

Unfortunately, though, I don't use photoshop, so I have GIMP. I will definitely try to replicate what you said though, because it sounds a lot easier lol. I'm a painter though, so it was fairly easy to hand paint it like that. The problem I had with this particular face, however, was that I wanted to use this specific polaroid, "The Dealer" one, because it matched the painting pretty well I thought. But the problem was, I couldn't match the face, because when it did, it also completely ruined the eyes and lips by distorting the colours, or whatnot. What I'm amazed by though is how seamless your faces are... The one where she's in the plane doesn't even look like it was 'shopped at all!

Gimp is a good program and I think most of this can be done without too many problems. I'm not overly familiar with it though I have used it for some cartography work. I find Gimp has better noise and cloud fill options and can make much better random coastal areas. |
