Default "Dallas" Movie

Has anyone heard about this?! I just read about it and it sounds like it's going to be THE campiest movie ever made. Just look at the cast:

Burt Reynolds as JR
Melanie Griffith as Sue Ellen (what a fabulous drunk she'll be!)
Catherine Zeta Jones as Pamela
Brad Pitt as Bobby

What a monumental trainwreck it's going to be. I'm dying to see this like you wouldn't believe.

Well, Pitt and ZJ are fab in my book even if they do nothing but sit there

Personally, I think the material is the weakest thing involved here. Again, you can put a candle in a cow patty but that does not make it a birthday cake

OMG, too funny. You're right -- it's going to be a campfest....and delicious.

They've been tossing this around for years, but I heard John Travolta mentioned as possibly playing J.R. Burt Reynolds? That's ridiculous. He's way too old. Where did you hear this?

Question What?

Brad Pitt was on the show Dallas back in the day. This sounds weird.

Burt Reynolds would have made a perfect J.R. 20 years ago! And I don't know if I could even see John Travolta play that role well. I think Melanie Griffith as Sue Ellen and CZJ as Pamela would be PERFECT! I don't like Brad Pitt though.

Ugh, Brad Pitt is atrocious. Unwatchable.

I like Zeta Jones in the right role (like in Chicago and Traffic), but sometimes I just plain don't like her. She ain't in her thirties, either.

Hollywood Reporter. Burt Reynolds is ridiculous, but with that new facelift of his, it could work and only add to the campiness.

If Melanie Griffith gets cast as Sue Ellen, I'll be the first in line when it opens. Talk about delicious. I foresee midnight showings for years to come.

Really? I think it's laughable that she thinks she can pull that over on everyone.

Isn't she a foreigner? Why don't they just get Grace Jones to play Pam, for crying out loud.

But, still. Isn't he like 80 years old?

I can kinda see her playing Sue Ellen. But not opposite Burt Reynolds. She's young enough to be his granddaughter!

Oh god! I think I'll pass on this one.

An update tho...it appears ZJ is out...

Jones Rubbishes 'Dallas' Rumors
31 March 2005 (WENN)
Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has laughed off reports she's set to star in a movie remake of classic TV drama Dallas. The Welsh Oscar-winner was heavily tipped to play wholesome Pamela Ewing in the series' big screen resurrection, 14 years after the last Dallas episode aired. However, Sarah Fuller, a representative for Zeta-Jones' Los Angeles publicist Cece Yorke at PYR PR, insists frenzied rumours claiming the actress is on the verge of signing to the project are completely false. Fuller says, "Reports regarding Catherine Zeta-Jones being cast in the feature film, Dallas, are incorrect. There have been no discussions regarding this." Jones' Ocean's Twelve co-star Brad Pitt has also been touted to feature in the film, which begins shooting later this year.
