She needs to do some small theaters and polish things up.
It's so hard to witness, I really loved all the qualities of her voice from '97-'00. During those years I preferred her current voice at that time over her Tusk tour voice etc. She had that amazing lower register, but could also do this amazing reach for the higher notes.

Since about 2009 the elasticity in her voice has vanished more and more every year/tour. I think that Stand Back performance in Columbus is a new level of weirdness.

I felt that weirdness during Gypsy 2018 Los Angeles Forum. The sound was just awful to the point where people were looking at each other on the floor. It was kind of like Stand Back, Columbus.

I too really loved her voice since 1987. Even during the Kolonopin years she still had a great voice. I thought during the Enchanted tour in 1998 she was losing some of the high notes, but really, even during the 2005-20010 years her voice was still great. I loved her singing on Beauty and the Beast. I don't think she could do it now. I really hope after this tour she and her team really take a hard look at the performances and hopefully can see it's not worth it anymore. She has so many other things she could do. But I don't know if she knows how to be without the stage. Reminds me of Deborah Vance on HBO's Hacks.

She's running into issues because she insists on singing the material the same way she always has, presumably with some sort of guidance from her vocal coach. Clearly it sounds like there is even so much he can do at this point.

Her entire approach to live performances needs a reboot.

I'd also love to know what the mix preferences are for all of the in-ear monitors for the band members on stage. Bass 70%, Drums 70%, Keys 65%, Stevie lead 5% LOLOL....I cannot imagine having some of these vocals coming directly into your ear.

This. She could put on a good show if she rearranged some songs, lowered some keys, and played a stage that makes sense for her age. Not to mention digging into her catalog for some songs that translate better with her current capabilities. Trying to croak out the same Stand Back or Gypsy or Rhiannon hasn’t worked for her in at least ten years.

It also freaked me out that she was in the day singing a hit, and it looked like nobody was even paying attention.
