Welcome to the forum, SIlver23. Glad to see another Tegan and Sara fan among the ranks. Although I do like Heartthrob rather a lot.
My friend used to be a huge jpop-head, but I always found it a bit inaccessible. Any particular songs that you'd recommend? |

As far as J-pop rock goes, I would recommend the Pillows. Not as good as Fleetwood Mac, but a decent rock band.
Some individual pop songs and bands that I like inclue: -Any Perfume song after 2007ish. (Very electronic) -Ai Otsuka -RIP Slyme -M-flo material prior to 2009. -Brown Eyed Girls (Korean) have fantastic vocals. They would have to be my favorite group of all time next to FM. No instrument usage, but their vocals make up for it. -Sunny Hill-anything from their catalog. -Gummy (Absolutely gorgeous vocal) -Lee Hi-"1,2,3,4"<-sounds a lot like Adele. *Most of these artists have subbed versions on Youtube with the exception of M-flo, Ai Otsuka, and RIP Slyme. |

I pretty much love everything.
I remember I was playing music at work and one of my co-workers commented on how weird it was to hear Imagine Dragons then Biggie then Marilyn Mason then Kanye then all these other random people, like Patty Griffin and Reba McEntire, that wouldn't be put together otherwise. Other than that, I love old music. "Angel Baby", "Unchained Melody", other stuff from 40s-60s. I still can't do Elvis, though. I just really don't like him, and it probably stemmed from stealing other people's music and calling it his own. Probably.

I can't get into him either.
I don't know why though. I prefer the other greats from that time period, but I prefer someone like Johnny Cash over Elvis. |
