Mac Quiz Mac Numbers
April 9, 2009

1. What well-known singers did Fleetwood Mac members perform with in pre-Mac bands?

2. What's the only Mac song that inspired a Beatles' song?

3. What are two unusual recording methods for the 1979 song ''Tusk''?

4. What song did Peter Green play on the album ''Tusk'' nine years after he left the band?

5. What's the most-covered Mac song?

[Answers are Below]

1. In the '60s Mick Fleetwood played with Rod Stewart in Shotgun Express; in the '70s Lindsey Buckingham sang Phil Everly's parts in Don Everly's band.

2. John Lennon based ''Sun King'' on ''Albatross,'' a 1969 instrumental by Mac founding guitarist Peter Green; ''Ablatross'' is on the soundtrack of ''Man on a Wire,'' the 2009 Academy Award winner for documentary.

3. Buckingham cut vocals while lying on a bathroom floor (he liked the cool echo) and drummed on Kleenex boxes (he liked the crinkly crunch).

4. ''Brown Eyes'' (Green was uncredited)

Didn't Lindsey use elastic band guitars for songs like The Ledge? Also, what songs did he use the Kleenex box drumming on?

Answer to #5

5. There have been five covers of ''The Chain'' -- the only band collaboration -- by artists as disparate as Shawn Colvin and Tantric (source: http://www. > coversproject.com).
