Default Interesting tidbit I just discovered at the ABB site

After Duane Allman's fatal motorcycle accident in '71, it has been said that the only guitar player they considered replacing him with was Peter Green. (they eventually replaced him with piano player Chuck Leavell) But, by then, Peter had left Fleetwood Mac out of the music biz and headed on his downward spiral.

But, that just sets the mind ablaze with "what ifs".

Hearing the Allman Bros (with Peter) playing "Oh Well", "Green Manalishi" & "Rattlesnake Shake". And, hearing Peter playing "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", "Whipping Post" & all those killer blues covers, too!

Another great lost opportunity.

Thanks for posting this!
Never heard about that.
Yes, it's another "what if". And it says a lot about Peter's talent.
One other music mag article from around 1970 tells about an upcoming Peter Green and Syd Barrett collaboration...
Then there is the story of Danny and the Stones.

How about it? Peter Green with the Allman Brothers anf Danny Kirwan with the Rolling Stones.

On board the "what if" train, ticket punched and train at full speed (of sound):

I've long thought that Danny would've been a great fit with Wings. Considering his songwriting skills were far superior than those of Henry McCullough or Jimmy McCulloch, he would've had Paul McCartney & Denny Laine to help him with lyrical content for his beautiful melodies.

I think had he joined the Stones, he may not have survived long.

Yes, Wings probably would have been a safer place for him both musically and .. well otherwise.

I don't think the Allmanbrother's band would have done anything for Peter's health either .
