Narnia...
Anyone seen Prince Caspian yet? I was disappointed, yet again. The 1st Narnia was kinda "meh" for me...and I loved the books when I was younger. They just aren't translating to film well, I suppose. It feels as if they are sacrificing the story for big, drawn out fight scenes. It's missing that sprawling, big-scope kind of feel (Kind of like Lord of the Rings had).
That being said, I have seen some amazing films lately...Iron Man for one. Just caught an excellent Tommy Lee Jones film called "The 3 Burials of Melquiades Estrada"...and I'm hoping INDIANA JONES saves the summer! =)

I enjoyed the first one so I'm looking forward to see Prince Caspian.

I took some kids along to see it and they enjoyed it - maybe it works best for children although some of it was a bit gory. This 'fantasy' stuff doesn't really do it for me but it is beautifully filmed, as the first movie was.
But I'm no judge of what a decent film is, as you know! |

I saw it yesterday and was somewhat underwhelmed, but I was tired going in. At 2 hours and 20 minutes long it was about 20 minutes too long.
Interestingly, it under-performed at the box office. It did about $56 million, but was expected to make $80 mil. I liked the mice with swords. |

The book was the least memorable of the first five that I read long ago. They might have been wise to skip Prince Caspian.

As much as I LOVE the NeverEnding Story from the 80s, I'd like to see them re-do it. A more faithful version of the book is in order.

There was a terrible sequel to NeverEnding story.
A sequel to Dark Crystal is actually in pre-production. |

Yeah but since the death of Jim Henson, the thought of it worries me a bit. The original Dark Crystal is quite frightening...at least, it irked me a bit when I was a kid.

Brian Henson has recently discussed plans for three films - Dark Crystal 2 and Fragglerock: The Movie. He also discussed Labyrinth 2, which is much further off than the other two.
The puppets in Dark Crystal were a bit menacing. |

It just seems to me that this genre of film has peaked for now after the LOTR trilogy set the bar so high and did so well and then all the money the Harry Potter films made it seems recent films in the genre are not doing nearly as well altho I know the first Narnia film was a hit I doubt that all the remaining chronicles will be made into films if the trend continues.

I grew up on Fraggle Rock, so I'd like to see it come back...if they have all the original puppeteers/vocalists...
