Who loves Christine and her new Album?
I do I do!
I thought I'd start this new thread because so many people who like her new album is posting in the rather downer "tad disappointed" thread. So this is for everygody who loves her and loves the new album! Doesn't she just sound de-lovely? |

Chris sounds wonderful! I just got some bootleg recordings from about 1970-1972. She's definitely singing better now. There's really no comparison. Who in the world sounds better in their 60's than they did in their 20's? And, her song writing is top notch here too. The album just has a cozy, warm, intimate feel to it.

Me!
I got 'In The Meantime' right when it came out and have been listening to it regularly ever since. I can't get enough of it. I like it so much!
I agree that her voice is wonderful and hasn't aged a bit... Well, it might have gotten better actually. And I am also fond of her songwriting - simple, but sincere.

I love Christine. I don't love the entire album but I do love 9 of 12 songs. I love the jazzy breezy feel of it. Her voice sounds so good. It does waver at times, but she sings better than me and I'm in my 30's.

I love Christine and I loved her 1984 solo album, but I do not like her new album, save 3 excellent songs.

I love In the Meantime to bits.
For me a Christine album is like chatting with an old friend you haven't seen for a while. OK so occasionally they might tell you something they've said before but for the most part it's new and interesting. Gail |

Ok, now that I've listened to the album periodically for almost three months I could say something of it here.
I don't like it that much, really. The two opening tracks feel good to me but then the whole thing gets a bit too samey. The 'darker' tracks don't really move me, I wished for something in the vein of "Behind The Mask" or "Sooner Or Later" but didn't really get any of that. In a way I do agree with what David said about the album in the other thread. It's weird how I can like Chris' Time work a lot and then for the most part the latest solo album falls flat for me. Maybe there is something to be said for Lindsey and Richard Dashut in these cases after all. But then it's not the kind of music I listen to regularly, if I don't count Chris' Mac work here that is. Technically everything is in place, sounds smooth and her voice itself is, to quote Jbrownsjr, like fine wine. Yes, yes, sorry for the negativity in this thread that's supposed to have other intentions. I'll go fishing now and probably get the hook into my eye.
