There's a Tango era interview from 1987 that I have in which Chris mentioned that she had a 14 year old brother who was an aspiring classical composer. That would mean he was born around 1973. Chris mentioned in one of her ITM interviews that Dan was 38 years old. That would mean he was born around 1966. That would have made him around 5 years old when Future Games was released.

so even allowing for the fact that she never gets dates right it doesn't seem possible to be about Cyrill.

It might be one of her songs that isn't about anyone

Gail

Edit: Dan Perfect's website says he was born in 1965

I always say that a song isn't necessarily from the songwriter's own personal experience -- it can be from their observations of others or just from their imagination -- but I think "Show Me a Smile" *is* a personal song. I like to think that Christine was thinking of her little 5-year old nephew Dan when she wrote it. I think that's very sweet, considering that Dan grew up to help his auntie record a solo record.

Most of Christine's songs are about a romantic experience, but some of her very best songs are the ones she has written expressing a longing for home and family, such as "Temporary One," "Homeward Bound," "Hollywood," in addition to "Show Me a Smile."

well now, that just adds a whole new dimension to the "i can't wait any longer for paradise" line!

Yes, he has a website. It's for his paintings. Gail has the URL. There is a thread in the Chris forum on her site about his website. We weren't really all that impressed with his paintings.

Edit: Here's an earlier thread here in this forum about Dan's website.

She did those ITM interviews in Sept. 2004 so his birthday must be in late 1965. I think he looks younger than his actual age.

It is really nice seeing Brown Eyes getting some love. I was on another board and saw someone say it was the worse track on "Tusk." I felt like kicking some ass over that comment. IMO it was one of the best tracks.

Dan's website is www.danperfect.co.uk

Just in case anyone wants to look at his paintings

they're not to my taste but I'm sure someone likes them!

I think they go for about £1,000 a time (apprx $1,700/$1,800)

Someone did e-mail him about the Q & A, but they never got a reply back from him.

How do you know that? I don't see any prices for the paintings.
