Default Top 5 terrible songs from GREAT albums . . .

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24034572/

Wow . . .

If you look at the poll at the bottom, it lists "Songbird" as one of the "worst" songs . . . that really is so sad . . .

Your thoughts on the other choices??

i'm not a big fan of songbird, but if i had to pick a song off of rumours, it would have been oh daddy.

h8.

the live versions are listenable, but the album version? ugh.

and unforgiven on metallica's black album? they're crazy.

and i'm a huge fan of the cure's lovesong

i picked mother from Synchronicity

I'd go with Oh Daddy too..

Their idea of the worst song on some of those albums really sucks.. especially "Love Ain't for Keeping" on Who's Next, and "Let Me Put My Love Into You" on Back in Black... I really like those

I voted Michael Jackson btw, cos all his songs suck

IS THAT MY MOTHER ON THE PHONE

I LOVED that record though. Sadly, on cassette and vinyl, you pretty much had to listen to it on FF on the cassette. That was one of the happier times of my life. I was graduating high school (1985) - had the world at my feet - and was doe eyed with innocence. Le Sigh!

SInce I don't remember Mother, maybe it's a bad song but.. I think that poll just sucks..

Songbird is a BEAUTIFUL song.

"Waiting for the Worms," from Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is not a jewel but is not that bad, and the album is a concept album so all songs make sense, though some melodies are not so good.

"'39" from Queen's "Night at the Opera", is a nice song, too. I'd choose I'm in love with my car. Taylor didn't hit it.

"Start Me Up" from the Rolling Stones' "Tatoo You", is a cool song. Commercial, but cool. Why people hate commercial songs?? Does all songs have to be pieces of art??

"The Girl Is Mine" from Michael Jackson's "Thriller".. humm.. no comments, too commercial, too sticky, but Thriller was a commercial album so.. so what?

"Candle in the Wind," form Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".. Well it's not one of my faves but, the worse?? Thank's God they didn't propose the title song cause it's one my favorites and one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Picks self up off the floor.. I'm in Love with My Car is a fantastic song.. Taylor locked himself in a closet until the rest of the band agreed to use it as a B-side

Me too. I love that song and don't know why it would be considered so much worse than the others. I also think Candle in the wind is a beautiful song and don't know why it's on the list.

I don't get most songs on the list.

Oh, honey, Metallica sucks. Everyone knows that

I am SO GLAD that someone agrees that "The Long And Winding Road" is crap. I really don't like the Beatles, but that song makes me want to strangle puppies. Seriously. Get over yourself, McCartney.

"Start Me Up" is also the worst song off Tattoo You, imo. Very disappointed to see that "D'yer Maker" made the list, though. So wrong...

Candle in the Wind from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road double album? There are several clinkers on that album. Actually, all of Elton John's old, good albums had clinkers here & there. (Solar Prestige a Gammon on Caribou, anyone?)

On Yellow Brick Road, the clinker is: Jamaica Jerk-Off

On Rock of the Westies, the really big clinker is Dan Dare. I forgot the other songs. (Of course, nobody really considers it a great album.)

I don't know about the Princess Diana one, that has a different meaning for me and it doesn't really feel like the same song because of the different meanings and mood of the song. I think the original is really beautiful though.

Long and Winding Road is a beautiful song!! With that statement out of the way, it is better stripped down which is the reason MSN gave. The band didn't care for what Spector did though. Listen to Let It Be Naked...now that's some great stuff!

gah, I love Oh Daddy. I'd have to go with Songbird from Rumours and Kind of Woman from Bella Donna.
