BTW: I really think that quote I used fits in the way he stands in the business now. The prove is in what he's doing now. Do you see a tortured artist that hates the fact that there are onle 800 people in these venues? No he LOVES the scale of it: it loosens him up. Musically, too.

I think he likes the small venues. But, he also loved the huge arenas on SYW. So, I guess he has both. But, I would still bet he would love for this record to have been a commercial success with sales over a million. As of now, it has sold less than 100,000 I think - though I could be wrong - which is commercial flop. I think with someone with his ego and history of huge commercial success, that has got to hurt on some level. I mean wouldn't we all feel that way even if just a little?

Note - this is not saying he is not happy doing what he doing. I just think he would have on some level rathered the additional commercial success.

i don't make a million dollars a year, but I LOVE what I do for a living so therefore, I consider myself to be hugely successful.

I can't believe Britney Spears is mentioned on the Ledge.

Ewwwwwwgh.

Commercial Success is all relative. It all depends on what it cost to make, which is something we could go on debating forever, but we'll never know. Not all records need to be certified gold or platinum to be considered a success or profitable. Only 5% (approx) of all releases reach the gold and platinum level - which is pretty low.

Sure, it has only sold in the ballpark of 100,000, but then how many people have either copied it or illegally downloaded it?

He'd probably be knocking on "gold record" status if the numbers were calculated on "Number of people who own a copy of the album" and not CD sales alone.

Exactemundo.

If the past 30 years have learned Lindsey anything it's that you should never calculate your success in terms of record sales. And that's especially the case in this time and day, with the Pirates of the Internet. I think Lindsey went into this project with a very realistic view. Would he have liked to have sold a million copies? Sure! Did he expect to? Not in a million years. So I don't think he thinks it's been a flop. If anything, he has received raving reviews, both for his album and his tour, the latter being a fairly successful one. With Tom Whalley telling Lindsey to let Fleetwood Mac knock for a while longer I doubt this is costing Warner Brothers -to use Lindsey's words- a f*ck of a lot of money, so MacMan is right when he says that commercial success is relative. Besides, I think at this point Lindsey aims more towards personal success, and in that regard he can be pretty proud.

I know - - but I am comparing his commercial solo success to his commercial FM success. When Tusk tanked compared to Rumors and IMO FMFM - LB was said to have taken it personally because his vision, which Tusk is, did not provide the commercial success that it had in the past when he was more mainstream. So, that is all I am saying.

Is he happier now without it - who can say for sure, but I tend to doubt it.

Probably, but other records go gold and platinum and cerainly people download them

But, I guess the question is "did 400,000 or so download the album illegally?" IMO I doubt it because if that were so and he knew about it, he'd be playing larger venues. But that is supposition I know.
