Default Why doesn't Stevie use falsetto more to hit those high notes?

I for one would be ok with her using falsetto to hit some of those notes in songs like Rhiannon and Dreams. When she changes the notes to the lower ones....the songs become boring to me.

I think it all boils down to confidence for her, or lack of. Using falsetto in the studio is one thing, but singing falsetto live night after night on a huge tour is another.

In the studio, one can get close to a mic, and quietly sing a "perfect" falsetto (see "Call On Me For Magic" or "Sorcerer") and can do it over and over again until they're happy.

On stage, you only have one shot to make falsetto sound good. And falsetto, when it's belted out in order to be heard over a rowdy audience, usually isn't very pretty. I don't think she's confident enough to do that, even if she were singing quietly.

My two cents.

My guess is she just isn't able to do it loudly enough to work in a live concert setting. It simply wouldn't come across.

I do think Rhiannon without the high note is perfectly lovely, but Dreams somehow doesn't work without it for me. I find live versions of that song very tedious. But maybe I just don't like the song all that much anyway.
