Let's face it - she gave up such a huge part of being a woman that honestly, she really didn't have to do. Every other hard working female in the music business has either gotten married and/or had children. NOBODY works harder and is more committed to their career as Madonna - yet despite putting out new CDs and touring every other year, she STILL managed to get married and have 2 children (not to mention the other 2 she adopted). This whole "there was no time" nonsense is a royal copout. Stevie has put out 2 new CDs in the past 20 years and yet she had no time? Please.

She's an old single woman who is probably very unfulfilled in her life. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not truly happy inside, it isn't going to matter. It is quite obvious that she's unhappy at this point and who could blame her? It's obvious she doesn't want to tour anymore. It's clearly not fun for her anymore. She's no longer relevant in the music industry and that reality is probably sinking in. When she quit the drugs in '93, she really should have spent some time focusing on herself and her personal life. Her career was in the tank and she was no longer the darling of rock n roll. She was still young enough to have kids and have a real family. But she chose to release and tour off of Street Angel instead and then do nothing until The Dance.

So many years have gone by and she seems to have done a whole lotta nothing. So, if she's irritable and blaming her schedule for being tired or blaming her fans for stealing her music, can you fault her? It's probably a lot easier to blame the world for your problems than to face the reality that you might have wasted the majority of the past 20 years of your life....
This was very well-stated and interesting to read. I must ask this, and I'm embarrassed in a way, how many solo albums, excluding compilations/box sets, has Stevie put out since the start of her solo career? I'm curious because she is considered to be the more prolific one in terms of her and Lindsey, yet I am thinking now their solo contributions are about even. But I could be wrong. I know she has tons of demos and whatnot, but no doubt so does he.

Anyway, right, back to the subject...I personally agree that Stevie complains a lot. It doesn't bother me that much, but I truly disliked when she would start publicly berating Lindsey and airing all kinds of dirty laundry that (I feel) was mainly good PR, but just made me lose some respect for her. It seemed that all she could talk about were things that happened decades ago and how much she hated the SYW tour and album. But it was a whole different story when the album was released and she was doing press for the tour at the time. So it's become more and more difficult to take her at face value.

However, I personally feel like she probably tried her best during the shows I went to. I think her singing was spot-on and she was somewhat into it at times. Yes, for the most part she was not energetic or captivating, but there were spurts. And I guess those little moments meant a lot to some people.

This co-worker of mine went to see FM and declared to me, as I mentioned in the thread with that horrible, nasty review that blasts Stevie and calls her bloated was posted, that she no longer likes nor has any respect for Stevie. Apparently, the lady had extremely good seats and was observing how "so not into it" and "blank-faced" Stevie looked. She said she ignored most of the fans and seemed lifeless, whereas Lindsey went over and above and tore it up. Although I loved hearing the lady praise LB, I felt bad for SN a little. I like her, what can I say?

Anyway, suffice to say the lady hates Stevie now and wrote some letter to somewhere affiliated with the group complaining about her lackluster performance when she paid $400 for her tickets. She basically thinks Stevie is a lazy, ungrateful, rich hag who sucks up her fans' money and delivers phoned-in performances in return. I couldn't reason with her.

I just hope that a lot of other more casual fans aren't feeling this way...

Well, if they just cancel a whole bunch of American dates (they had plenyt of chances in the last 19 years to see Stevie), they'll have plenty of energy for some European, Asian en Australian dates :-)

So all who bought a ticket for this tour could be guilty of attempted murder.....?

And Lindsey's GOS tour only once had a break for more than a day in between shows, many times he played consecutive nights. I know it wasn't as long a tour as the FM one but considering how energetic he is on stage the last few years you'd think he'd wear himself out pretty quickly. I seem to remember comments after the GOS tour that he wishes it could have gone on much longer.

Even if it took their toll on all of them at least the other three were still giving it their all on stage.

Sadly, its probably just time for them to hang the band up on the mantle.

Oh, for pity's sake.
Did any of you hear that sentence come out of her mouth? For all you know, it could be made up, misquoted, or a total tongue-in-cheek comment, complete with hearty, dirty laugh.
If Mick or John had said it, you'd be laughing.

Stevie says it and she's a bitter old (!) woman who should hang up her platforms.

Yes, she bitches sometimes and pisses me off, too, but one highly exaggerated sentence? Nah. And, the funny thing is--when she does a TV or radio interview, we have far less bitching in response. Then, she's funny and eccentric and we love, love, LOVE her! Why? Because we SEE/hear what she's actually trying to say--beyond the words. So, anyway, I'm taking this with a huge grain of salt. She could very well have been talking about the condition of the band's feet when she said that.

Six (studio albums): Bella Donna, The Wild Heart, Rock a Little, Other Side of the Mirror, Street Angel, and Trouble in Shangri-La.

She's only moaning cos she has no say in the schedule. It's all directed at Mick or someone in his management. She said almost the exact same thing about the Behind the Mask Tour dates (or whatever that tour was called), "What is he trying to do, kill us?" (I'm paraphrasing, check the US Magazine Article interview from that era).
If she doesn't get to select the cities, in the order that she likes them, then they're not done right.
The reporter might've caught her when she was beat, too.

I agree! I mean this could seriously be misquoted or said as a joke. I mean I don't like the quote either, I think whether it was a joke or not it is still annoying to hear her say that, but I think some people are just taking it way to far. She seemed to be having a lot of fun at the show I attended and she appeared to me that she still loves what she does. I think some of these post are just so absurd. I can't speak for Stevie, but neither can you all that say she's unhappy and she hates touring and she doesn't appreciate her fans. You don't know that she feels that way so don't post it like you know it to be fact.

In denial much? Oh, yeah, Stevie is beyond reproach, the Goddess that she is. Gimme a f***ing break. She's tired & used...time for her to either retire or take up a permanent residence at some casino on the Vegas strip...which, come to think of it, is about the same thing for a performer.

She's not beyond reproach, Chili. These are not the old days when I thought she was.
I've taken a lot of exception to what she's occasionally said.
But, you don't mark people as washed up simply because of one sentence they've (maybe) said to a radio station that no one except those in the state have heard of.
In my opinion, of course.
And, in yours, Stevie and anyone not in the original FM should have been on that Vegas strip about 20 years ago.
That's cool. You live with your denial, I'll live with mine.

I saw the D.C. show, and this was when there was NO interaction between Stevie and Lindsey, really, the most we got was when she put her hand on his shoulder at the end of Sara, no hugs, no shimming back-to-back, NADA!! But, I still had the time of my life.

One has to wonder though, how can Mick do meet-n-greets, interviews, mymicktv., have incredible energy during the shows, and not complain? Stevie does NONE of this. Sometimes, her bitchin' pisses me off too. C'mon, being a rocknroll star is a life of luxury! They most likely ain't gonna be touring past June 20th - so make the most of it!!

As Gene Simmons says "I can sleep when I'm 6 feet in the ground" - Amen Brother!

Nope, I don't...but Stevie's been washed up for at LEAST 15 years already and comments like the one she (allegedly) made about the touring schedule, just confirms it.
