Default Walk Don't Run

Hello All,

Again, my apologies if portions of this have already been covered.

On May 15 & 16, 1996, Peter recorded a Track for "Twang 2", the proposed Ventures Tribute Album, which sadly never saw the light of Day. It was recorded at Stambridge (or is it Stanbridge ?) Studios in London. Cozy Powell - Producer.

There are 9 different Takes (or partial Takes) on the Studio Master and Kenny Denton mixed down a single copy for IRS Records, for subsequent distribution. I don't know why the project was scrapped, &/or who's idea it was to scrap it, but the Album was never released. I honestly don't know if IRS Kept a copy, but assume that they would have. I must admit, I have never heard of IRS Records before or since that project, so I assume they are a very small Label. Perhaps they aren't even in business any more. If I have offended anyone at IRS, forgive me. No slight intended.

The rumours circulating at the time were that Peter hadn't been playing well during the sessions, and that Cozy Powell was displeased. You hear so much nonsense however, that one never really knows what to believe. Cozy is no longer with us to corroborate the story.

I also have (albeit a different) mixed down version of the Recording, and can say without hesitation that... either the theory about Peter's sub standard playing is a crock, or Kenny Denton is a genius. It is a fabulous piece of work.

Cheers, Don

IRS records is the specialty label owned by Miles Copeland...ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland's brother.

The I.R.S. Records Story

I would love to hear Peter playing "Walk Don't Run". That seems like a tune that Peter would've really gotten into and done a pretty job of covering. Being that the Ventures were pretty much the US equivalent of the Shadows; and Hank Marvin being a big influence on Peter, as well.
