Hillary - I think you should not put all your happiness into marriage - I think that should be the case for anyone gay/straight - we all need to be as happy as possible with ourselves before we can be successful in marriage or any partnership...you're an intelligent and sensetive person - and I hope that find the peace of mind you need :nod I don't disagree with gay marriage - I think eveyone should have the right to marry - period. If two people love one another then they should be able to express that in marriage if they so wish |

Oh - and I meant to add - that although you don't have the right to marry now - perhaps you can continue the fight to make it happen - and I think one day it will happen

I'm gay and I oppose marriage in all its forms. Why on earth would anyone want the government/legal system that much control over their life? However, opposition does not equate limitation. If consensual people want to get married, regardless of orientation- go for it.
Dissie already said it, but I'll say it my way- the heterosexuals that want to deny gays the right to marry are only doing so because of fear, hatred and/or bigotry. That is a plain and simple fact. In case anyone doesn't know the meaning of the word, here it is: big·ot n. One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ. I have yet to see any reasons for denying gays the right to marry that are not related to fear, hatred and/or bigotry. Neither did the Massachusetts Supreme Court- and that's why they made the decision to legalize gay marriage. |

I think so, too. The Black movement gives me that hope. They have come a long way.

Just a quick comment on the article in the initial post... and maybe this has already been stated (I haven't read the entire thread yet)... those who felt Dan Rather should have been fired for lying, should want the same fate to befall George W.
In fact, I'd say what the latter did, was worse than what the former did, as the former didn't cause the deaths of thousands of American men and women with HIS lie.
