Smile Show Me A Smile

I was playing 'Future Games' earlier and I'd forgotten how much I like this song. It's particularly great how Danny's guitar complements Christine's lovely vocal, and how it provides such a neat ending to the album.

But what I want to know is, who is the song about? Did Christine have anyone in mind when she wrote it, or is it just a random lyric? I've not heard anyone discuss it before (sorry if you have) so I thought I'd ask

I don't know. Sorry. Don't know why I'm even saying anything, but no one had, so I thought I should.

In fact, I thought you said "Show me a simile" first...

I think Mick and Chris's brother had kids by this point. Maybe it's about them? Or maybe it refers to (I think) Mick's sister's children on the album cover?

Either way it's a lovely song.

I have a feeling it might be about somebody specific...maybe one of her brother's kids. This was one of the questions that I asked in that Q & A, by the way. I think it's a beautiful song, very sweet & understated.

See, if she'd answered the Q&A, we'd know who it was for! Sigh.
It's such a sweet song, though. I really like it.

I thought it could be about Dan but it maybe about her half-brother Cryril?

Just a thought

I don't think Cyril had been born yet....wasn't he born in '73 or so?

FWIW I love this song too. Her voice is buttery smooth; nice little lullabye, although if i recall correctly Mick's cymbals crash a little too loudly in some parts.

When don't they? It's one of my favorites. I listen to it sometimes when I can't sleep.

Thanks for everyone's answers - I guess it's just another Mac mystery

Hopefully we'll get to ask Chris one day and find out for sure

Pretty song, if it's what I'm thinking it is.
