Jan Hooks passed away today.
I'm heartbroken. The first time I remember seeing her was when I saw "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" in the movie theatre...and her brief 2 minute scene had me rolling on the floor! It's an incredibly hysterical representation of 99% of ALL tour guides. The impression/comic timing is genius and one of a kind!
When I started watching "Saturday Night Live" on a regular basis in Middle School and High School, she was my absolute favorite. She was the NEXT Gilda Radnor, in my opinion, and paved the way for gals such as Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler and Kristen Wiig in regards to making the show focus more on "female centric" comedy rather than just a "boy's club". Jan had been off the radar this past decade, occasionally popping up on 30 Rock every once in awhile...but I was hoping someday soon she would have had a career "comeback". Sad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYfjq3ZYZbA |

Oh how sad, I thought she was absolutely hilarious in 30 Rock. Far too young
