Default Any chance of Bob Welch cd reissues?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether there are plans to remaster/reissue some of Bob's rarer albums like Man Overboard and The Other One? I've seen a couple on ebay, but they are listed around the $400-500 mark.
Also, I've noticed a few different editions of Bob Welch & Friends listed (at last count, 5 different covers) and wondered if anyone could recommend the best version audio-wise?
Cheers, Phil

Heart Bob Welch and Friends/Live at the Roxy Bootlegs

Please know that none of these are any good and are all bootlegs. Don't buy them. Bob Welch/His Fleetwood Mac Years and Beyond and II and Bob Welch's Greatest Hits all wonderful and the Best of Bob Welch, as well.

I'll see what I can find out about the other albums, I know that I own all the copyrights to those albums you ask about and am looking into who can put out the master recordings if you would like to get them remastered. <3

Question

Thanks Wendy, Edsel did a great job in '98 with French Kiss/3 Hearts & Other One/Man Overboard making them 2 on 1's (though if this was done again, hopefully the 10-20 seconds longer Sentimental Lady could be included which was on the 1990 Best Of Bob Welch Rhino put out back then instead). I don't think the self titled 1981 RCA album ever came out on CD in the US, just Japan and that was many years ago with half the disc blank since the album was so short so a 2 on 1 of that & Eye Contact would be nice). Hopefully if you can swing this you could see if there are any unreleased material that be included to build the discs up to the 80 minutes max. If nothing else maybe you could add all the tracks from Bob's website for those of us oldies wishing to get material on a physical product such as CD's. Somoeone told me that Bob had put some unreleased Paris tracks on his site so those would go well with the 2 Paris albums (if they are re-release-able too). I think Wounded Bird put Eye Contact out a year or two ago but again, it's a shame more than half of the disc is blank though they did include some remixes as bonus tracks and those albums are so short that they should still fit on a possible Bob Welch (1981)/Eye Contact double feature. I wouldn't mind paying more than the retail price if it meant the prices had to be higher to fill up the discs more if it came to that. I think I recall Bob was working on trying to get a live CD out from a show in did in Japan during the French Kiss tour so there's another idea. I just found out about the Blue Beard album he worked on in '71 so that's been fun to listen to and if the Head West (with single only bonus tracks) could be managed that would be awesome not to mention the holy grail of Bob's rercordings with the Seven Souls. I've got some of their singles but the bible that is missing from my collection is the self titled 7S album on Barclay Records. So it would be the motherload if that album with all the singles only bonus tracks could be released on a disc. At least the 3 Hearts reissue from a few years ago included the B-side Something Strong as well as a couple other bonus tracks so that was a step in the right direction. I know all of this isn't do-able but just thought I'd through all the ideas out there I could think of to see if we can get any of them to stick. Thanks for listening.

John

Yes, a collection of Seven Souls and other early recordings would be fab to see among others, there are some great specialist labels in the U.K., and Sundazed and Light In The Attic in the U.S. Many are now doing vinyl and CD releases in conjunction. I always opt for new vinyl if available and affordable.

Something like Live French Kiss might easily work as a download only release in wav and mp3 formats? I've gotten various vintage live recordings through Wolfgang's Vault with perhaps limited mass viability, and some from artist's own websites.

Heart Unreleased Bob Welch songs

I probably have over 100 or 200 unreleased songs, which I would love to get the best out for you and Bob. I have to wait until I settle the probate estate. As I can't touch any of the checks until that is done, and have only so much I can do with the funds until the end of May. Maybe then, I can do as I please for his friends and for Him. Love you all so much for being there for more. This is all so hard. After 27 years with him and almost 10 months with him gone, my life is so very lonely and I miss him so much. I will be married to him for the rest of my life! Please help me and the Welch Warriors on my facebook -- Wendy Welch.1232 -- to get him inducted in the RRHOF as he should have been. Thank you all for your support.
Bob loved you all so much, as do I now that I am learning the internet for Bob!

Default Take care Wendy...

Thank you Wendy for your replies and the promise of more releases from Bob. I would buy each and every cd on offer, especially with the added incentive of rare and previously unreleased tracks. I have a few of his albums on cd, but as mentioned previously, some of them are hard to find and prohibitively expensive.
I also want to say that I found your posting of today profoundly moving. Regardless of the intrigue surrounding the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame debacle, I think everyone is agreed upon the need for Bob to be recognised and inducted. However, aside from that, we should also be respectful of Bob and Wendy's enduring relationship and the loss Wendy has experienced in the last year. How terribly sad this time must have been - my heart truly goes out to her.

Hey, John...don't know if it ever was released on CD, but it DID get released on iTunes back in December of 2011. It's really good. John McVie makes a cameo on "Hypnotized".

iTunes: Bob Welch-Live In Japan

Thanks for this Chili, yeah, I guess when throwing all of these ideas out to Wendy I hoped to get the point in that many would prefer a physical product as I know Bob had posted many tracks on at his site only as downloads. I guess I'll do that for now with this one but hopefully a CD with pictures/liner notes will surface someday.

For me, that was the cool thing about Bob just putting those songs as downloads...I could arrange the songs in an order I liked (or by genre...his "rock songs", his "covers", his sort of leftovers from the "Be-Bop" album, etc). Before I got an iPod, I burnt those on CD-R for my collection as "Bob Welch - Private Reserve" I related to them as if they were like a musical version of someone's wine cellar collection...except Bob shared them with the world! Bless him for that!
