I love the vibraphone in Dreams, but the bit that gets me each time I listen to it is in the last chorus, just before she sings "say women," there's what I can only call a "flourish" of the "ethereal space sound", buried deep in the mix, that just says to me sadness, grieving, giving up hope: exactly what the song is about! I love that bit and it is testament to Ken and Richard that it stands out so much (to me), but is so quiet.

The train ringing bell (what's it called?) at the beginning of For What It's Worth always gets me.

Also the GUUUUUUNG guitar sound in Street Angel.

Default Planets

The bridge of Planets of the Universe does something to me. The drop out with the drums coming in. "Now I know I was wrong to live for a dream...."

I LOVE the demo version of this song, as well, and I listen to both of them quite often depending on my mood, which is often the case with Stevie songs.

I agree! The bridge where most of the instrumentation stops and it's just some synth overdubs keeping the rhythm is another magical moment for me!

Welcome to the Ledge!!! Your screen name rocks! "Juliet" is one of my favorites!

Thank you! I've been reading posts on this site for a while now, and I finally had to join in on the discussions.

Was listening to Sable on Blonde today, and I thought how amazing the part at 1:46 where it goes "in your hands each night... this time" and then that beautiful flourish! It gave me shivers, even though I've listened to this song hundreds of times.

Not from a musician, but those guttural wails in I Can't Wait and Edge of Seventeen!
