Default Winnipeg (Canada) Sun Review

By DARRYL STERDAN
Winnipeg Sun

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IN THE MEANTIME
Christine McVie
(Adventure/Koch)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can take Christine McVie out of Fleetwood Mac, but you can't take the ... well, you know.

With her first solo album since walking away from music five years ago, the singer and keyboardist makes it clear she hasn't lost a step.

On these dozen personal pop-rock tracks, McVie displays the same supple vocals and melodic gifts she used to chart-topping effect on hits like Don't Stop and You Make Loving Fun. Granted, there's no getting around the fact that unless and until she gets back with the Mac, she's not being pushed to her full potential.

But this will do in the ... well, you know.

Track Listing

1. Friend
2. You Are
3. Northern Star
4. Bad Journey
5. Anything Is Possible
6. Calumny
7. So Sincere
8. Easy Come, Easy Go
9. Liar
10. Sweet Revenge
11. Forgiveness
12. Givin' It Back

Right on!

These songs sound like they could be pulled right off a Fleetwood Mac album to me. I'm just not getting the fact that some people don't think these songs are up to par with her FM stuff.

Another nice review. Thanks for posting. There's that word "supple" again. That's the second review that I've seen that used that word to describe Christine's vocals.
