Fleetwood Mac Is Coming To Town
by Paul Cashmere - August 13 2009

You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout, I’ll tell you why. Fleetwood Mac is coming to town.

The Australian and New Zealand leg of the Fleetwood Mac Unleashed tour is expected to kick off in New Zealand in late December with Australian dates early January..

Ticketmaster New Zealand has announced the tour and has added a waitlist for tickets to the site. “Fleetwood Mac, one of the most popular rock bands in history, are coming to New Zealand as part of their upcoming tour,” the statement reads.

This will be Fleetwood Mac’s first tour of Australia in 5 years. It will feature Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie but not Christine McVie. Christine retired from the band a decade ago and is happily living back in the UK.

Sheryl Crow also won’t be in the band although there was a rumour that she was going to replace Christine at one stage. In a telephone hook-up with Undercover to announce the World Tour, Stevie Nicks confirmed that was true. “We were ready to go in and called her and needed her to come for two or three days to just play. It was Mother’s Day and she had invited 300 people in her family there. It was her first Mother’s Day as a mom and she could not do it. At that point she said “I am going to have to pass”. I said “I think you are making the right decision. You have a new baby, you have survived breast cancer and Lance Armstrong. I don’t think this is the right thing for you”. That is what happened with Sheryl Crow. She is still our friend and I still adore her. She is one fm my dearest friends,” she said.

An announcement is expected next week.
Here is what Michele left out of this article. I found it interesting how they identify where each song originates from.

Here is the setlist for the Unleashed tour:

How about they shake it up a bit and add some "Sisters of the Moon" and maybe some "Tango in the Night" tracks?

You're wrong, it should obviously be two more versions of Rhiannon.

To the people who want SOTM, I don't think you would like what you got. That ship has sailed. Now Thrown Down or Destiny Rules would be great additions.

More winery talk....

Fleetwood Mac To Play Australian Wineries

by Paul Cashmere - August 15 2009

Expect an announcement any day now for Fleetwood Mac playing the Australian wineries as part of their Unleashed tour.

The Australian and New Zealand tour is set for December and will include the winery shows, Undercover hears.

Current published dates for Fleetwood Mac’s Unleashed tour go through to the European tour in November. Australasia is next.

The Unleashed tour is a greatest hits tour. There is no new music from Fleetwood Mac in the works. In a phone hook-up with Undercover, Lindsey Buckingham said that not having new music on this tour "frees you up to enjoy each other as people. Let’s have a good time and value the friendships and history. It takes the pressure off and allows more fun than we would normally be able to have."

The Fleetwood Mac line-up is Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Christine McVie has been out of the band for more than a decade now and happily living the retired life in England. "I’ve been the only girl in Fleetwood Mac since 1998, so I’m used to it now,” Stevie said during the conference all. “But I miss Christine. The loss of Christine as one of my best girlfriends was horrific to me. Not a day goes by that I don’t wish she would call up and say, 'I’m back.' "

Fleetwood Mac Australian dates will be announced this week.

Imminent announcement of dates - awesome. That sounds more certain than the last article.

Persistent talk of winery dates - pretty average.

If they play a couple of wineries in addition to the regular venues in the major markets, that's cool, but if they choose to do only winery shows in certain states at the expense of a regular venue, that's not so cool.

Thankfully, Qld's not overly famous for its wineries, although there is this pesky little one about five minutes down the road from me which some artists seem to be fond of playing.

Wineries just seem far too refined for the Mac. I want indoor loudness!

Dream of my life that will never, ever happen:

Fleetwood Mac plays a show at both the Oracle (Oakland) and HP Pavillion (San Jose), followed by an evening at the GORGEOUS winery venue up the street from me. My dad is close friends with the owner so I'd be guaranteed outstanding tickets and most likely a little backstage time.

AND the place has a total mysical atmosphere-- 180 degree view of the Bay Area; the stage is against the original old, vine-covered main building. Stevie would love it.

Sigh, to dream.

Australasia basically means Australia and New Zealand. That area of the Pacific.

^Hey now, you forgot to mention PNG and some of those little Pacifc Island nations

Really, when we effectively mean Australia and NZ, why don't we just say so? It only takes two more words.

I can't wait for those dates to be confirmed so I can start planning. I think some holidays are in order.

Disappointing that Adelaide is not there in those rumoured dates though. I hope that doesn't end up being the case.
