Suggestions on an FM/Stevie Song for Wedding

Unconditional Love would be my choice for a father/daughter dance. The lyrics are uplifting and appropriate and it's got a nice tempo.

I initially thought of Has Anyone Ever Written ... but I think it's a little too slow and meditative for a joyous occasion!

I agree with Crystal and Unconditional Love. (Landslide is getting trite at weddings - I've been to a few lately that had it for the bride's dance with dad.) I know Stevie didn't write UL, but some of the lyrics are fitting for the father-daughter dance: "Why would I...be a fool and break these ties" and "Darling I'm right here...and nothing's changed" especially.

Actually I change my vote to Gypsy
Even better, an acoustic guitar version if theres a muso in the ranks of your family.

Everything is spot-on pertinent - the only thing that is a bit off-topic is the first verse, about the room - but that sets the mood and doesn't really detract.

It's both optimistic and reflective, and the song makes you want to dance like they do in the video anyway.

Yeah, I love the Gypsy lyrics and can see them at a wedding. I just can't listen to the song without thinking of Robin (would be a downer at my reception, but hey, I'm no bride.) I guess the choice depends on how big of an FM devotee this bride is, as most people aren't aware of the song's meaning.

Rooms on Fire can actually work as a father-daughter dance song, as long as you interpret it a little differently. Especially if you think about a father having to let go of his daughter to another man...

Yeah for sure. When I finally found out the story behind it, it changed my appreciation of the song - still really happy and optimistic, but sort of desperately so in the face of sadness

Not to go too far off the topic of this thread, but each of the versions of Gypsy is so different. The piano demo, Mirage concert version, and recent acoustic are all pretty calm and reflective, the album version is almost triumphant, but my favorite is the fast-paced outtake with Stevie sounding enraged. It reminds me of that great shot in the video with her running outside in black and white past the dancers in the rain, eyes shut, throwing her arms up in despair only to be frozen in a framed photograph.

Back to the topic, again, I could see it at a funeral more than at a wedding. Too me the song is mainly about surviving and still remmbering.
