Thanks for hosting it, Brian!
Crikey it sure is huge! I'm glad you shrunk it some. But I don't get it... i resized it when i was finished working on it, and made it approx. 7 x 10.6" Even did a print preview, and it was exactly the size of the printable area. I wonder why it ends up coming out three times that size? Ah well! Thanks again for putting it up so everyone can see it! Johnny Stew

Adds?
What does it mean - "Going for Adds Everywhere March 10" - Do they mean ads? Like they will put out ads then? Or what?

Though i've never understood why they do that... they send it out to everyone, so it'll arrive on a certain date, but then they ask them to start playing it several days later. Why not let them start playing it ASAP? Or maybe it's just to make sure they've given everyone enough time to receive it, and for the DJs (or, more likely, the station managers) to then have enough time to give it a listen before they start playing it? Thanks
Thank goodness it wasn't a misspelling of "ads". That would have just been embarrassing. lol

i am sure there are other radio people who can explain this more clearly but i used to build playlists for a bunch of raio stations and basically what happens is that the radio week starts on a specific day, i believe it is monday or tuesday. what that means is that any new songs that a station manager or music director/programmer decides to add to his playlist that week can start being played on that specific day even though they will have received the cd with the song many days before hand. When stations add the song to the play list is is reported to billboard and R&R and they rate the song's popularity on how many stations added it to their playlists and how many times it is rotated (how often it is played per day) during the week. That is how the songs work their way up the charts, by getting more ads each week aka getting stations to add it to the play list that week.
Right now they are starting to look into the possibility of Payola happening in radio again. It was big back in the 60s & 70s. That is when a record label would pay programmers or djs or who ever was in charge of the playlists and the reports to the trade mags to play the song more or atleast report that they had played it even if they didn't so that when other stations saw that they big name station was playing it alot they would add it to thier playlists. There is speculation that this is happening again even though it is illegal.

thank you very much big al... i am well educated and i know what symbolism is. but i'm trying to figure out the symbolism... to me, four hands reaching out towards each other is a strange symbol for a song called peacekeeper... i am not understanding the symbolism so if you want to be a smart ass and help me out it would be greatly appreciated. thanks. |

The point is probably moot since the photo is probably some stock photo, but I've got an theory about the symbolism. Given the current political situation, the fact that the hands and arms are clearly not caucasion, the satiricle/ironic nature of the lyrics of the song, and the title of the album, I'd say that the offering of hands is a gesture of goodwill from--as if to say "take my hand in peace." The skin color of the hands and arms could be that of middle easterners, alluding to the situation going on in the news. The fact that they are open, suggests they are being offered as harmless. After all, when do we show our open palms? When we wish to convey security: hands up above your head means you have no weapon and cannot do harm, palms out in front of your chest usually means no offense, a hand outstretched usually is an invitation to shake hands. In fact, the only time I can think in which a palm is shown in an aggresive manner is when the hand is outstretched in a tight, rigid way as if to accuse or demand. The picture responds to the point of the song, which I believe is a satiricle one: "If having weapons will bring peace, using them will bring Utopia" ("Love is the sweet surprise" et al.), which decodes into peace through weaponry is idiocy. The picture suggests an invitation to take someone elses hand. Maybe to work together towards peace rather than fight each other in order to force it. I hope I've conveyed my idea so that it makes sense. I'm sure other's have ideas also. Say you will tell us yours
