Default The missing Jeremy Spencer albums

I read on a website an old interview with the band JYNXT (made of some of Jeremy's children) where they discussed the recordings that Jeremy had made while with the Childen of God/The Family. There was mention that he had recorded a rap album:
The cult broadly disapproves of music, but, in its contrary fashion, has made an exception for its most famous convert, Jeremy Spencer, who is permitted to record material for the organisation's exclusive use. Electric guitars are generally banned, although Spencer again enjoys a special licence to use one with his trademark slide, on the strict understanding that he keeps off the distortion pedal. "Dad plays a lot of sort of gospel music these days," says Ben. "And he made that rap album, too," Tally recalls with a giggle. "God, that was something. Embarrassing."

Now I know that the interview clearly states that the music was for use by The Family, but wouldn't you just love to listen to these works that we almost certainly will never be lucky enough to hear?

My kids told me they were very upset by this article because, besides its twisting of facts, they had understandably wanted to talk about their music, but all the interviewer wanted and used was stuff about FM, Jeremy Spencer and the 'cult'! Better scoop, of course.
As far as a rap album goes, I recorded one rap song as a spoof on a home digital set up.
And, while many of the younger musicians in the group at that time were using stomp boxes, distortion and whatnot, I never did, simply because I never have and still don't like 'em. I like playing clean through a small tube amp with nothing in-between.

So there! Makes me think of that old Who song: 'It's Not True'! Remember it?

The sad state of journalism.

I remember when I was assigned to review a special edition Tommy DVD (speaking of The Who) and it ended up that it was released right when Townshend got arrested for accessing a pedophile porn website. Anyway, I turned in my review, which (given my approach to film criticism) centered on the film as a Ken Russell film and put it in the context of current musical films (Chicago, Moulin Rouge). My editor demanded! that I rewrite the review to make mention of the Townshend arrest!?!? I was so offended. I tried to do it with integrity. But when I reprinted the review in my book I erased all that nonsense.

Anyway... as for the significant issue here re: Jeremy Spencer's "missing" albums: the inference from the article is that there are a bunch of unreleased albums, but maybe there are just songs and demos? Either way: no wonder there's enough material for a double album(?). Hope the rap song makes the cut

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.
