Default Billy Gibbons

If you're a fan of American blues music, you need to hear the podcast from stand-up comedian Marc Maron. His 6/16 WTF podcast was his interview with Billy Gibbons.

When the name Peter Green was mentioned, everything stopped. Maron and Gibbons were talking about Peter Green as if he was from another galaxy. Gibbons says he listen's to Green's music every day.

Where do you think "Blue Jean Blues" came from? I forgot to add, Gibbons' said it wasn't just Pete's guitar playing, it was his voice.

Blue Jean Blues is like a tribute, a wonderful one.

He's not the only one. Probably most "guitarists of a certain age" do too.

Well, not just "Blue Jean Blues"...just about everything on ZZ Top's first three albums sound like they could've been done by Peter Green &/or the 1967-70 era Fleetwood Mac.
Especially:
Brown Sugar
Just Got Back From Baby's
Sure Got Cold When The Rain Fell
Bar-B-Q
Francene
Just Got Paid
Waiting For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago
Hot Blue & Righteous
Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers (definitely rooted deeply from "Rattlesnake Shake" & "the Madges")
jeez...even LA GRANGE

Thanks Slipkid for link,great interview!

The first ZZ Top album (1970) was Very much influenced with FM 1968 album
Songs like Brown Sugar and Just got back from baby`s echoes Green`s
World keep on turning and I loved another woman
I still have LP Flash by Moving Sidewalks and love that album.
If you listening one older live gig from Germany (Rockpalast) Gibbons gave amazing performance with Jesus left Chicago....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN69GC2amTg

He felt every single note just like PG does on World keep on turning.
Bill Gibbons , great bluesman, must be when influenced by PG!
