Default CHRISTINE BEING INTERVIEWED ON RADIO 2 -2pm 8th july

Sorry to shout but from Radio 2:

14:00 Steve Wright in the Afternoon
Steve's guests this afternoon are former Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie and there's another dose of medicine from Doctor Hilary Jones.

You can listen online at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/wright/

Usually the following day you can listen to the show again. I'm listening to the show as I post and no Chris yet. It started at 2pm (15 mins ago) and is on until 5pm. Ooooh... Steve Wright just confirmed on the air that Christine will be there later!!

Pip, is anyone recording this? If not, I'll definitely try to write some of what's being discussed here on the board, that is, if I don't feel the nature's call or anything like that.

Ok, looks like the first guest of the day will come in half an hour and it won't be Christine so we still have to wait.

Did you listen??? Stage tired? And FM did ask her to join them on stage in London!

Oh and when asked if she would do some gigs for her new album she said no.

More comments. She said she was and still is heavily influenced by Lindsey. Admits 'You Are' sounds very much Fleetwood Mac but knows she will never get away from that due to Lindseys influence

I did my own transcript too Pip, but I'll let you post yours, I'm sure I missed some of what she said.

Oh do post if you have it already. Rachel (Ivorymorning) is transcribing and I would be posting on her behalf.

Here goes then:

Ok, they began with talking about Christine eventually wanting to leave Fleetwood Mac already before 1997, but the Clinton inauguration set the ball rolling and reeled her back in.
Wright also commended Chris on writing most of Fleetwood Mac's hits throughout the years and having been the most consistent element in the band. She accepted that quite modestly.
Wright asked about Chris not going on stage with the band in London last year and she said she's become "stage shy", but eventually corrected it and spoke of being "stage tired". That's why she said that she won't be doing any live shows to support the new album.
Instead of pushing this any further Wright asked her about her songwriting influences; Chris said that of course there's always lots of blues influence, she always has a boogie figure coming out of her left hand anyway. Later on she admitted to being influenced by Stevie and Lindsey in her songwriting, using chords in different ways than she had earlier.
Wright said that a lot of In The Meantime sounds like Fleetwood Mac, Chris didn't deny this ('cos she wrote a lot of the hits anyway ) and also admitted that she's been influenced by Lindsey's production work and still is influenced by it, obviously.
Eventually they ended with playing "Friend" and "You Are" mixed together, Chris described "Friend" as being the antithesis to "You Are".

That's what I got out of it, it was a short one but I still missed some stuff for sure. Chris did handle this like a professional, in spite of Wright interrupting her a couple of times.

A couple other things I remember-- she said they all got on well during the Clinton thing when they had to remix the 'Don't Stop'- that's what eventually led to The Dance.

Financially she said she is doing well. No surprise there. :-)

So short! But better than nothing.

Oh no. I missed this. Did anyone record this? Is there any way I can hear this? I wasn't online all morning. I didn't even know about this.
