Which "Mystery To Me" songs in 2013?
Since 2013 is the 40th anniversary of "Penguin" and "Mystery To Me", what songs from those FLEETWOOD MAC albums should FLEETWOOD MAC do in 2013?
My vote is for "Hypnotized", but with Stevie Nicks singing lead vocals. It fits her current vocal stylings to a tee.

Great topic!
I would LOVE to discover "Hypnotized" and/or "Why" in their new setlist! And you're absolutely right - Stevie should sing "Hypnotized". Lindsey almost ruined this masterpiece on stage back in the 70s. Last edited by gypsy-sara; 03-03-2013 at 03:09 AM.. |

Hypnotized or Forever, such a beautiful song.

"Why"!
Failing that, "Hypnotized".

I think they can do The City too. or Forever. But Hypnotized would be awesome!

Without the exception of Don't Stop, for which lead vocals on the original were shared with Lindsey Buckingham, I don't think Fleetwood Mac should attempt any Christine McVie songs on the 2013 Tour.
They tried this with Say You Love Me in 2009, and it fell flat. IF you can't get Chris to tour, then don't try to recreate flat versions of her songs. That being said, I LOVE the Mystery to Me album. "Why" without Chris McVie would be awkward. I could see the band doing "Hypnotized" though. Mystery to Me is one of the great Fleetwood Mac records. |

What about "Did You Ever Love Me," with Stevie Nicks on steel drum?
For real, though, I don't think Stevie would contribute a very cool lead on "Hypnotized" (and instrumentally it never gels IMO because you can't reproduce that gauzy echo-chamber ambience—it's drenched in reverb, like the studio track of "Sara"), but I think she could do a great lead vocal on "Emerald Eyes."

Right away, Hypnotized stood out with Stevie on lead. Of course, Why is most fitting to represent Chris, but I don't thinkthey can pull it off w/o her. So a good tune would be Hold Me. also LB on Oh Well, again....but sadly, I think it's all a pipe dream |

None of this will ever happen of course. Lindsey has voiced his dislike of playing Bob Welch songs and FM isn't all that adventurous these days.
However, if this were going to happen, It'd be cool to hear a hard, breakneck version of Miles Away with Stevie and Lindsey taking turns at the mic. |

I agree with that except I would love for Lindsey to sing it, not Stevie.

Didn't John say that "Penguin" was one of his favourite albums, and Chris said that "Mystery To Me" is her favourite after "Rumours"

I may have totally misread Christine's comments in Mojo, but I thought she was saying Rumours was her third favourite album and Mystery was her first...

It's a nice wish but I don't see Fleetwood Mac playing a previous lineup song (I mean songs before 1975). Oh Well was played in the past by Lindsey, I think at Mick's request, but he said Lindsey didn't like to play old FM songs. There has been already anniversaries of Then Play On and other old albums and there has not been any tribute to them (except when Rick Vito was in the band)

Whenever I go read youtube comments (I know, why ever read youtube comments) of videos where Lindsey/Stevie sing on pre-75 Mac songs there are so many people expressing basically that they should just not mess with those songs. OTOH you have fans like the ones in these kinds of threads that would love to see the songs again for the sake of love of those songs. Guess it's a rock and a hard place thing. Too bad really.
