You'd think because she was younger and playing to a smaller audience and doing bluesier material that the vocals would be less restrained then, but they really aren't. Her vocals get more confident as time goes by and she doesn't use them experimentally really. She saves the spontaneity for the keyboard.

Of course, rehearsal and practice vocals might be a different matter.

Yes, moreso Lindsey than Stevie. The falsetto high notes he did on the Mirage tour were in the soprano range, these must have put a lot of strain on his vocal cords. It's possible the drugs, smoking, and weight gain had a bigger impact on Stevie. I have heard her sing many D5s and an Eb5, but they were in full voice, and not her upper limit.
