Thumbs down FAMILY MAN!!!!!

Honestly there are a lot of Lindsey tunes that, to be politically correct, annoy me. I could begin with "That's All For Everyone", then go on with "Oh Diane", "Empire State", "You And I, Part II", "Caroline" and now "Come", but....

....."Family Man" stands out as possibly being one of the most annoying noises ever produced by a human voice. I can't even believe this is the same guy who wrote "I'm So Afraid". Ugh.

Red Rover (HATE the chorus)
Family Man
start of GYOW on Mirage concert video
Wrong
Trouble
DW Suite
That's all for Everyone
Oh Diane (to me the repetitive "whoa- Oh- Oh...whoah-Oh-Diane, talkin' about Diane" is as annoying as Wassamattabaybay on WISYA)

I'm definitely going with Red Rover! The chorus is just too weird.

Oh Diane (I used to get the hell flamed out of me on the old Ledge for this.)
Family Man
Caroline
My Little Demon
Come
Red Rover
Live versions of Not That Funny. (They were cool the first 5 times.)
Tango in the Night
You & I (pt II, I haven't listened to pt. I enough to make an assessment.)

yeah, i'm surprised at all the votes for red rover (my roommate doesn't like it either). it's one of my favorite LB songs on the album. and i ESPECIALLY like the chorus.

i think some of his songs on mirage--esp. oh diane--were kind of tongue in cheek in their production/style--the movers and shakers at warner bros didn't want another tusk, they wanted something safe. so lindsey said, "you want safe? how about a song that sounds right out of the 50s, you conservative, nostalgic fools?"

also, i never knew there were so many anti-family man sentiments lingering about. i like that one too!

WHY does it make me so sad to hear that people hate this song so much? It speaks to my soul while others hate it....

I have to keep saying to myself that we are all different and songs speak to us in different ways...

Please don't take it personally about people hating RR, I think the most artistic songs are beloved by some & despised by others. It's a demonstration of the strength of the art. Who knows why it's a strong hate from some & a strong love from others? I'm not sure of why I love some of my favorite Stevie songs, such as Lady from the Mountain and Garbo, which I'm sure rub some people harshly. And somebody posted nearby that she hates The Highwayman, another favorite of mine. Furthermore, W/out a Leg to Stand On is a favorite Lindsey song of mine, but I never see anybody here say they love it. (Sometimes I think he makes the ones I like short just to annoy me! I Know I'm not Wrong is another example.)
At least our differences keep the board interesting. The important thing is I love that I share opinions with people with passion for their favorites, the way I have passion for mine. (The down side is we also have passions for our least favorites, I suppose.)

"SURVEY SAYS!!!" LOL I love that part of THWDIILA!!

TBT - Oh man, I hated this song as a kid!! LOL I was like "Why is he singing like that...all herky jerky?" Now, I love it, it's a unique song, and only Lindsey can pull off a vocal of that caliber, IMO.

I love when he sings all goofy like in TBT, LA and songs like Bwana, it makes him stand out from every other singer. You know, I love listening to crooners, people with smooth, velvet-like voices, but I also love unique voices like Lindsey, Stevie, Dolly Parton (I love her silly laugh! LOL) and Gwen Stefani. You know EXACTLY who's singing when you hear these people...they can't be mistaken for anyone else and I LOVE that!!

"Oh Diane"...oh god...I totally forgot about this one. Shows you how much I listen to "Mirage".

But how can anyone hate "DW Suite"? Yeah, it's different from most songs, but there's several parts so there's gotta be at least something to like about it.
