This is a bit daft, but given that she is completely out of touch I'm not surprised. I'd be disappointed if nothing at all was released; they are not going to get an arena-full of fans screaming loud for the new material. Only some of us will do that, and we are a minority

yes, i wish this woman would maybe from time to time look at the calendar and realize it's 2013 and that her 30 year old logic has some serious flaws.

"we will give you new music if you LOVE what we release but not just LIKE it"?? seriously?? how do you measure this love Stevie? by the number of downloads? by happy screams of people? by reviews? just curious...

if you are an artist and have the need to create and put out new music then you do it, whether or not people buy it or love it. maybe they'll love it now or rediscover it 5 years down the road... and maybe they won't. but you are moving forward and being creative.

however, if you are just putting out new music for money and commercial success (which you were lucky enough to get in troves and can still reel in millions by touring and royalties anyway... so why do you need huge sales of new music??), than don't claim that you are still an artist, please.

Half the time I think it's more about the possibility of rejection than it is the money.

Well, then, I have a bridge or two I'd like to sell you.

It has always been about the dollar in her career.

Well, the good news is, even if Stevie doesn't want to do FM songs, she seems rejuvenated about new material in her solo career. So, there's a good chance her fans will be getting some of that.

I think that she just really doesn't want to make new music with FM and so she's trying out excuses to get out of it. That might be as much a way of trying to get away from the manipulations as it is about the music. I think she wants to make another solo album.

You know? Lindsey has searched for collaboration with an outside producer, Mick John and Lindsey played their asses off to make new Macmusic. I really think she's not very respectful towards that work by talking this way. She may not want to record new Macmusic, but hey, there are three guys that already made a Fleetwood Mac album for 75 %.

I agree. She seems really hyped to do solo material and collaborations. So, her fans will get the benefit of that.

Her comments about FM are nonsense excuses. It would be helpful if she'd just say she didn't want to record with them or she has a hangnail or something, because the "fans don't want to hear it" line is an increasingly weak rationale.

But is that attitude not very disrespectful towards the rest of the band?

You hit the nail on the head. Why the f did she make her solo album then? I don't think people were jumping up and down over her last solo album. She said she made the album because she felt creative and again and didn't give a crap if people bought it or not. She simply does NOT want to record with FM anymore.

Both Lindsey and Christine have kept their artistic credentials by releasing solo albums they anticipated would only sell to a narrow part of the market. Although both different people, they did it not for profit but because they wanted people to hear the music.

When I hear Mick and Stevie talk about the music industry in recent interviews I'm unsurprised but still a bit disappointed that they appear only to look at putting music out as a material exercise. Otherwise "we will just make music for ourselves". It leaves a very bad taste in the mouth and really makes me lose respect for those two.
