Just a bit more of a write up about the convention!!!



London in late June is usually awash with tennis fans from all over the
globe, attending the Wimbledon Championships. However, this coming June,
they will be sharing the streets of London with an altogether different type
of fan...Fleetwood Mac fans!

The first ever Fleetwood Mac fan convention in the UK is being held on June
28th, 2003 at GJ's bar in Colliers Wood, London. The event is intended to
be a celebration of Fleetwood Mac as a whole: from the early days in 1960's
London, through to the release of the long-awaited album this spring. The
event is being hosted by Fireflies UK, the online Mac fan community in the
UK.

In that very first Fleetwood Mac line up with Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green
and Jeremy Spencer was bassist Bob Brunning. Bob will be our special guest
at the convention, talking about his time with the band and the writing of
his book 'Fleetwood Mac: The First Thirty Years'. There's the possibility
that we might be able to entice Bob onstage with the actual bass guitar he
used in Fleetwood Mac to play with top UK tribute band 'Fleetwood Bac'. The
band are acclaimed for their authentic re-creation of the live Fleetwood Mac
sound and appearance, and will be playing a special evening set unique to
the convention.

Also appearing will be artists Johanna Pieterman and Debby Faulkner-Stevens.
Johanna's Stevie Nicks- inspired artwork is well known among fans, while
Debby's 'Sisters of the Moon' piece is currently raising funds for the Robin
Anderson Memorial Fund. Both artists will have work available for purchase
at the event.

As well as our special guests, there will be stalls, a trading post and a
free buffet along with a chance to prove yourself as the Fleetwood Mac Quiz
Champion. Above all, there is the opportunity to meet a whole host of other
Fleetwood Mac fans and spend the day immersed in your favourite band in the
relaxing surroundings of GJ's bar.

Although this is a UK event, we have had a great deal of interest from
continental Europe and the US, and this event is open to all.

I second that!! A HUGE amount of effort has gone into this by those named above, and this deserves to be, and will be, a fantastic event. Definitely be there if you can, it's gonna be awesome!

Do we ever have a Fleetwood Mac Convention in the U.S. ? I haven't ever heard of one, but I thought maybe we do and I just haven't heard about it.
