God Bless
He was good. But 60 minutes killed journalism. CBS discovered that they could make money off news that was propped up as entertainment. 60 minutes dominated the ratings almost forever. It was the show that started the blur between news/entertainment. Sadly today there is no line anymore. Every news channel promotes news as entertainment. If you only did hard hitting news, you don't get any ratings and go off the air.
And we wonder why our country is so crazy? CNN pages trend celebrity news next to serious global issues. Not picking on CNN cause they all do it.....just an example.
Gosh remember during the 9/11 real time newscast they interrupted to announce Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had separated.

they have to pander to their audience*** , we have 3 local network and 1 local cable news,

the cable is no nonsense , one local channel 7 is tabloid , one channel 5 i swear they are reporting for people who had a lobotomy , and one is news channel 4 and a bit of entertainment news if it is worthy death , concert , etc not gossip

and we have a local ox which i have never seen but based on result of their horrible reporting reported in the papers , spying on people " undercover" reports it probably is the worst

Today's news is not like the old days news was where you can trust them. Walter Cronkite .Morley and other journalists their age were great and trusted. Its all about ratings .Who can get the story on first and even throw some BS fabricated phony crap into the story to pick up ratings points.Thats the good reason why FOX has The Donald on there all the time.I dump the extended cable since it was not worth $80 plus bucks to watch CNN,FOX,MSNBC and other crap news channels. and nevermind the mindless reality crap channels and so called weather channel..

Rip Morley. It was nice watching you all of these years.

it's what the audience wants , if it wasn't they would change it that's the truth
