^I love these two. In the shirt, he seems withdrawn, shy, susceptible.

In the long coat he's still withdrawn, but with a colder edge. Impenetrable, so if there's susceptibility, it's guarded.

It's funny to think of the mannerisms and expressions that have remained consistent over the years and the ones that have changed.

I was reading a review from 1982 which said "the singer and guitarist whose music mixes forceful--and urgent--emotional touches with a playful eccentricity that is underscored by his quick marches around the stage that are reminiscent of a windup toy." It reminded me of how Lindsey used to walk like that, stiffed leg, short-stepped and fast around the stage all of the time. He doesn't do it anymore.

I wonder if he made a mental assessment that that seemed outdated. It gave a little punk vibe then and maybe doesn't have a place now.

Yeah, his stage antics at the time are surely different now. He was, and still is in some ways, eccentric in what concern stage playing, but as you said, maybe he considers "that" outdated. It's strange how things works in a different way, from artist to artist. There are singers whose "antics" are not changed at all.

Hmmm- I've seen him do it. Maybe it's not as noticeable. But it's definitely something I've seen in recent years and file in my mind under "Lindsey Buckingham stage movements".

I've seen him do it, but briefly like at the end of one song. It seems like he does it like for less than a minute during a 2.5 hour show. I don't see him doing it intermittently throughout an entire concert like he used to in 1979 and 1982. People used to say he looked constipated.

He does it to get somewhere fast when the beat picks up and he also still does the giant, quiet slow motion steps too, by contrast, when he's stealthing around to a slow beat.

Can't remember where I found the second pic, but I'm happy for something that mixes two of my favorites: Fleetwood Mac and The Simpsons!!
