Maybe this was actually a pretty good business decision... weird.

While I still completely disagree with them putting this out again in the first place, it actually makes sense from a business perspective.

Yes, we all want the Rumours cd/dvd but whenever that does get released it's only going to be a niche market of fans who actually buy it. It makes more business sense to release the best of right now when so many people have bought tickets for the tour. Bearing in mind the average age of a Fleetwood Mac audience (not us, I'm talking the casual fans who just want to hear the hits) then this is what they want to buy.

They wouldn't buy Rumours cd/dvd because chances are they already have it but since they've bought a ticket for the tour they'll but a hits collection. For most of them that's all they think they'll need anyway (philistines! haha!)

This was shown by the fact that the green Greatest Hits album experienced a huge slaes boost in the US upon announcement of the live dates. This is the UK equivalent with more advertising since it's a new release. It's along the lines of what Stevie was saying as regards the reasons for not doing a double album in Destiny Rules.

Whilst they’ve done well getting it to number 6 in the charts (although not too hard, reduced price cd in the supermarkets, double cd etc,) they should’ve at least updated it to include tracks from the SYW album. I don’t own that and I’m sure they could’ve lost 3 or 4 of the lesser tracks on this old compilation and added some of the newer tracks. Maybe even a live song or two from the start of this Greatest Hits tour. By doing that they might’ve even got a few of the actual Ledgie fans to pay for this release.

But I don’t buy the “remastered” part of this cd one bit. They’ve spent no money on this release, no updated liner notes or anything. I bet you it’s the old mastering.

And even if they have remastered it, why? Do the songs need remastering?? They sound pretty okay to me in their current formats. Remastering is only really ‘turning up’ the volume on older cd’s and I wouldn’t assume that a remaster would sound any better than the old version.

No effort made whatsoever with this release.

You know what would be really smart? Selling the VBO at the concert. Never occurred to them to do that. I was just reading an article about a guy who named his chickens after Fleetwood Mac members. I think those chickens are on FM's marketing team.

I was just looking at the UK album chart, and saw that the VBO is still in the top 40, at 37.

According to http://www.chartstats.com/albuminfo.php?id=478 it's only been out of the Top 40 for one week since its release.

Until around a week or so ago they were still advertising on mainstream ITV in the UK, which may have somethingo to do with why it is still in the charts. Also I have heard Fleetwood Mac on the radioBBC radio 2 much more often since the unleashed tour.

Really?!? I don't watch much ITV, but I didn't see any adverts for it. What were they like?

I saw them and got up and danced whenever I did. Weren't they mainly white with black and white photos of the band with Everywhere playing?

Haha! Me too! My words were along the lines of 'If someone gave me a Fleetwood Mac CD for valentines day, I'd wonder what the hell I'd done to break their heart!'
