Question SYW w/ Chris

we have heard the first single from chris's new record. how would Say You Will have been with You Are, Temporary One, and a couple other CM songs replacing some of the less popular stevie & lindsey songs?

i know some people will like it as is, i would have preferred a few chris songs instead of silver girl, smile at you, goodbye baby, and steal your heart away.

Any of Lindseys songs replaced by a snore-song like "You are" would have been annoying. On the other hand he would have made it more fashionable then...
But still of course the answer is... no!

Of course, the obvious answer is yes SYW would have been better with Christine McVie songs on it. I can think of quite a few songs that "You Are" could have easily replaced.

It would have been a lot messier perhaps... but I would have liked to hear her sweet voice taking the lead on some tracks instead of some weaker songs which I don't want to name again.

"Better" is my answer of course.

What do you mean "messier"? You mean, because her songs are so different then Lindsey and Stevie's?

Magic, magic magic. Her presence only added to what great stuff they have right now. So I'll go with better. Her essence has the right touch for those two skitsos LOL! .

The more I listen to You Are, the more I think this works well with Peacekeeper. And incindently whoever is playing guitar on this song is a master of accenting the most important notes.

And I love the chord progession in verses, the chorus is the weakest link.

based on the aforementioned songs: never ANY better. Even Silver Girl tops You Are and Temporary One. Maybe with some other tracks from In The Meantime...

As much as I love and adore Christine, and as "magical" as the music can be when her, Lindsey & Stevie are all harmonizing... I have to say that I don't really miss her on 'Say You Will.'
I think Lindsey & Stevie's songs are all top-notch (with a couple very minor exceptions), and the album isn't lacking anything.

This is not to say that I wouldn't love to see the "five fireflies" record another studio album someday, or that I'm necessarily happy that Christine isn't on the album... it's just that I think Buckingham & Nicks are strong enough personalities, and strong enough songwriters, to fill the gap that Christine created when she left. And I'm very excited at the prospect of another Mac album with Lindsey & Stevie as the sole songwriters... this time created from the "ground up."

Exactly. I should have said 'more variated' or 'eclectic' perhaps...

Lindsey might've suggested a tougher sound to go with the seemingly tougher lyrical statements in her new batch of tunes; which would've blended well with the rest of what we know as Say You Will.

Fawlty Towers had more of a cult following than mass popularity. One reason, it was aired on PBS over here. Not a large viewing audience...discriminatory, yes, mass viewership, no.
