Agreed, it potentially exposes them to thousands of new fans, and helps casual/previous fans realize that the band is still around & worthy of their attention.

I want to see most of the other headliners too! This Jazz Fest looks great! Wish I was a millionaire and swing it I'd be the kind of eccentric millionaire that would just follow FM touring all over the world

That 4 day package was $1275.00. Nice. But aside from the money, who has 4 days to devote?

I just think 4 days of... anything... is too much. That's like 500 bands. I would probably listen to nothing but NPR for the next two months. I know that after spending just one full day in an art museum, I just can't bear the thought of looking at more pretty things.

But that's not to say that I'm not tempted. Would love to see The Mavericks and Frank Ocean too.

Excerpt from Times Picayune article on the festival
http://www.nola.com/jazzfest/index.s...z_fest_to.html

Keith Spera, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
on January 17, 2013

Fleetwood Mac, a group with some experience in internal band politics, makes its Jazz Fest debut in 2013. The band's most recent New Orleans performance was at the New Orleans Arena in June 2009; guitarist Lindsey Buckingham performed a solo show at the French Quarter nightclub One Eyed Jacks in August 2012. The current incarnation of Fleetwood Mac includes Buckingham, drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie and vocalist Stevie Nicks, all of whom date to the band's mid-'70s classic period.

They typically don't perform at festivals. But music mogul Irving Azoff, the band's co-manager, attended the 2012 Jazz Fest with another of his clients, the Eagles. Fleetwood Mac's other manager, Howard Kaufman, manages Jazz Fest veteran Jimmy Buffett. Their familiarity with Jazz Fest helped grease the skids for Fleetwood Mac's appearance.

Eagles? Jimmy Buffett? Fleetwood Mac? Guess we're pretty loose on our definition of "jazz"

Stevie better make sure all of her white outifts are ready to go. i live in NOLA, and she will have heatstroke if she tries to perform on a May day in the heat and humidity in heavy black layers.
