Is there going to be a video for Peacekeeper?
Was wondering about that. Stevie got a lot of Promo from VH1 in that respect so i was hoping this new Mac album would maybe get the same treatment.

Right now, the Mac is going the same route as Bruce Springsteen...meaning they also think they are bigger than VH1, etc and are doing the whole NBC, Today Show, event thing.
I hope it works for them. Bruse sold 500,000 copies his first week.

FM should remember how VH1 helped publicize the Dance and made so many people aware of their reunion, which I'm sure helped sell the album and tickets for the tour! They might benefit from some more of the same to get SYW off the ground!

The difference in VH1 now and 1997 is big...they have all those dumb LISTS for EVERYTHING and basically play videos in the mornings, and the countdowns....their countdowns are basically made up since the majority of their channel isnt about videos...I would love to see a video, just to see it....the audience for VH1 has dwindled....because of their poor programming selection

Yeah, I often wonder where they pull those countdowns from ... the Top 20 is always on at the gym where I work out. But it would seem "Peacekeeeper" would appeal to ~whoever~ is making up the countdown list, since Sheryl Crow and Dixie Chicks' "Landslide" are on there ~every day~ (as is "All That Jazz", which seems very odd nestled in there between Avril Lavigne and J-Lo!).

If I am not mistaken, The Dance was on on MTV (the main one) first. Stevie's TISL stuff was VH-1.
I agree, it seemingly would have been "easy" to have made a 30 minute or even 60 minute stduio thing like they did for Tusk. Apparently, they have the footage. I mean with commercials, the 60 minute one would be less than 45 minutes of tape, about 18 minutes or less for a 30 minute segment, etc. Maybe (and hopefully) they will do it or are doing it. |

My guess is, since they are performing on Today on NBC, that they will perform Peacekeeper, and if they do, they will probably just throw that on to VH1's video selection. If they don't want to MAKE a video, that'd be the wisest thing to do, considering the performance is good.

I don't see the point of doing videos for individual songs anymore, considering the expense and the limited number of plays it is likely to get.
However, doing a concert video makes a lot of sense. Regardless of what the band may be saying right now, I fully expect this to happen. Probably they will wait a few weeks or months until after the CD hits the stores before they announce there will be a concert video. They are likely concerned about a concert DVD/video cutting into the sales of the CD. Those first few weeks after the release are when most sales will happen. And since CDs and DVDs now play in the same systems, as in home theater systems, it's easy enough to just stick with the DVD. You turn off the picture if you just want the sound. |

I agree Carne.
Maybe they will do some kind of concert like the Dixie Chicks did or they can do one for HBO like Cher and the Stones. |

Well, VH1 has changed since The Dance. It has become a lot more like MTV. It isn't just about adult music like before. Now they focus on a lot more youth interested songs like pop and hip-hop.
FM will do good. They can do this just like Springsteen did it. Oh btw...my mom heard "Peacekeeper" on our classic rock station today, and my dad heard it on our biggest radio station that only plays the hottest songs.

Peacekeeper video
Hey -
I watched their performance of Peacekeeper on Sessions@AOL, it would make an okay video for Peacekeeper. . .it has backup singers and everything! The camera pans around the stage and also gets closeups of all of them, etc. Has anybody else seen it? The bad thing is you have to sit through Blake Shelton, Coldplay and Vince Gill before FM. I'm not technically proficient enough to figure out how to "copy" the FM performance . . .but I'll bet somebody does it, or already has. Barbara
