You're right about that. Just about everyone uses them these days. It's much easier to name those who don't than to list everyone who does. I'm not sure if Stevie solo does, can't tell from the videos I've seen (however the DVDs like Live in Chicago are definitely edited), but she has her extremely loud backup singers who sometimes give off that same annoying effect.

Jimmy Paxson has commented on more than one occasion how proud he is that the Stevie band does not use pre-recorded material. He has also said that when they play on TV shows the production crew is always surprised to find out that they do it completely live.

LOL... sometimes with her voice is so nasal, I wish she would use them.

I remember getting that album and wonder what the F she was on. Her voice was clownlike. She was so taken with herself by then that she had become a caricature.

Not everybody hates RAL.
I love that album, and the 3 shows in Southern California I saw were great.
Yup, she was coked out of her mind and survived that era.
But many enjoyed that album, including myself.

RAL was the last tolerable one to me.

Bella Donna is better than sliced bread(I LOVE it).

Wild Heart is like finding a roll of Charmin in the woods, when you really have to go(I really, really like it a lot).

RAL is like finding out that you have a STD. But yet, a treatable one.

OSOTM is like....well....waking up in bed, naked with your Mom. And Dad. And you can't wash it off, or forget it.

I thought they might be over the edge. lol

I'm completely exhausted, and have to be up in a few hours, to do sound for a small festival Sat and Sun. My judgement may be a tad askew right now.

TOSOTM still had some great songs. "Rooms on fire," "Long way to go," "Alice," "Ooh my love," "Doing the best that I can,"... It was "Street Angel" that let me down. Hard. But she rebounded greatly on "Trouble in Shangri la." I adore that. Album.

Ha ha
I don't see how anyone can think RAL is better than OSOTM.
I never did accept a funky Stevie. Some of those songs......You can almost breakdance to Sister Honey or at least do the robot

I can explain it!

I still loved her when RAL came along...

Followed by OSOTM...she'd lost it then. OSOTM isn't fit to be used as a beer coaster. A cheap beer coaster!

Same here. Some album tracks were getting played hard when the album was first released. I would never have expected to hear "No Spoken Word" and "I Can't Wait" on the same station. I count myself very fortunate to have seen a Stevie show early in that tour. A great show for my first of hers, and a solid performance all the way through, even on "I Can't Wait". Not the "up" and "down" vibe in later shows.

the production sounds very muddy on a lot of the RAL songs... but there are still some good ones on there.

OSOTM has some good stuff that gives insight into where she was at during that time-- Doing the Best I Can especially, and even Ghosts, which is kind of a mess that needed a good editor to help clean it up, but I love love the bridge where she sings "to fill the empty spaces she's feeling, she depends on her music like a husband, and she knows it's no good, to fall in love again". I found those songs powerfully honest. And Rooms on Fire did well.
