....how ironic is it that 'face of glass' got THAT one right! Ah well. CONGRATS, that means "Gift of Screws" is immune for Round 9 which begins..... oh....right about.... NOW.

Default Round 9: Wear You Down

Well, can't say I don't enjoy it. But no way it deserves to be up in the top four.

Default Round 9 - Steve's Riff

As much as I enjoy listening to Lindsey moan suggestively for several minutes, how about we keep this Survivor to songs Lindsey has actually completed and intended for public consumption?

Well now you are pushing it. You know there's only one who's going to respond to this. I pissed you off huh? Stop that arrogant tone. Lindsey did NOT present this material to us as finished, dear. We know it, but we are not supposed to. And his intentions are something you can only guess about. You made the list. So every song has a chance. Don't lecture on what are good choices and what are bad choices. Just get pissed off if your fave is gone or try to go for immunity if you think you are the only one. That's all.

Nancy (or anyone) could you please explain this to me? How do you know this? Is there any information about when it was written etc? I know I probably heard the story before, but I need a refresher course.

From Javier Pacheco's Q&A:
Quote:
Yes, I was very critical of Stevie, but her songs did move me, I didn't try to block her creativity--I did think she had a talent for expressing honest sentiments. Her first FRITZ songs have stayed with me. In fact, one song in particular I have sung over and over again for the past thirty years--country and simple, but right on the mark. The lyrics go thusly: "Well there's a deep sense of a funny kind of love, ...when you look back on the way it really was. Kind of like a marriage after it has broken up; Well, there's a deep sense of a funny, ...kind of love."
Although I have no idea of where the people have gotten the impression that it's a co-write with Lindsey.

I think it is more than a guess that the songs he submitted to Warner Brothers were intended for public consumption. I think it is more than a guess as to why Steve's Riff was not among them.

It was only fair to include every song. And I understand that every song has a chance. Duh.

I can and will, and hopefully I will sway a few people along the way. That's what this game is about, babe.

I don't understand this last statement. How can I go for immunity? Have you forgotten that I write the immunity questions?

I asked Javier about it and he said so.

Ok. When did you ask him about it then, was it when you were posting the Fritz snippets at your site? Because I remember your speculation said "Written by L. Buckingham and S. Nicks; Sung by L. Buckingham" even before the posting of those snippets.

I can only interpret this post as an utter selfish bellybuttonstaring moment. I guess I have to forgive you because I don't get such a pile of empathyless reading.

I exchanged e-mails with him for a while before that. But indeed if you look at the Q&A you will see that the lyrics are different, which leads one to the conclusion that Lindsey changed them. In fact I edited the above to read that, but I saw you had quoted the old version, so I changed it back.
