He did a commercial for a bottled water company last year and I was aghast at first, but then I saw the whole thing and just couldn't stop laughing because it was such an awesome commercial. He's walking around his house and in each room is one of his former stage characters drinking a bottle of that crappy water!

I agree, but Clear Channel is pure evil and I can't get over that.

That was a funny commercial... and, in my eyes, Bowie's just endlessly cool no matter what he's doing.

Oh, I don't disagree with you there, but I try not to let myself be bothered in a major way by those kinds of business partnerships.
If I didn't keep my ideology in perspective, I'd have absolutely no respect left for ANYONE.

Do you have the Best of Bowie DVD set? I didn't know until yesterday that there are a TON of "easter eggs" on the DVDs and I've been going through them like mad.

I just think that they should consider other options before jumping into bed with a company as disgusting as Clear Channel is. It might be hard, but there's a lot to be said for creativity. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy the music, but it doesn't exactly make me want to spend money to line Clear Channel's pockets, you know?

I'm not sure why one must be considered a "sell-out" if one plays in the town of Las Vegas. It's just another venue that happens to be located in a casino.

Fleetwood Mac did play Vegas in July of 2003 (I was there) and again in Oct of that year. They performed at the MGM Grand arena.

They've always put a Las Vegas stop on their tours -- doesn't anyone remember the Aladdin Hotel & Casino shows in August 1977? Plus, Stevie played Mandalay Bay in 2000 for New Year's. I'm not sure the term "sellout" is really descriptive news anymore for Stevie -- unless it's for those private corporate parties she did all over the country several years ago (& FM has done some private corporate parties too).

It seems more sensible to call them sellouts with the box set or the supper club appearances or the saturation of greatest hits albums or the use of the songs in commercials. I don't see how Stevie & Lindsey joining was a sellout: it wasn't a move specifically intended to reap financial gain -- in fact, the band was pretty poor for about ten months before they even had a hit). The band just needed a guitar player. And in those days, the band was a refreshing change from the standard corporate group with interferring management & decision-making from above. Fleetwood Mac managed itself (& early on avoided almost all of the PR traps that Frampton fell into) & made its own musical decisions.

In those days, you would never have found a line of Fleetwood Mac action figures. But since about 1990, the band wouldn't think twice before jumping into such a marketing scheme.

I have wanted that sucker since the day he released it a couple of years ago, but I still haven't bought it.

It WILL be mine someday though... there's just no way that I cannot own that at some point. *lol*

I wish I'd have known that you didn't know about the Easter Eggs -- I read about them a while back, and I'd have sent you the list.
At least you've found them now!

(I'd cream my jeans if FM ever released a 2-disc video compilation like that.)

God help me, but I'd buy 'em.
