Yay for folks mentioning Martyrs! That film is serious business, people. It is in absolutely no way easy to watch, but if you haven't seen it yet, give it a go. I wouldn't say it scared me, per se, but it definitely moved me and disturbed me in a profound number of ways.

I would also list Takashi Miike's Audition, Korean director Ji-woon Kim's Jangwha, Hongryeon (English title is "A Tale of Two Sisters." This was remade into an American film called The Uninvited, which you should avoid at all costs), and The Descent as good ones to check out.

All the same, baby. All the same.

"You never know what I'll do. I've resequenced my show. I'm a master at sequencing. I'm the one who sequenced for Fleetwood Mac. I sequenced 'Rumours.' Everyone loves my sequences. They're fun.''

Oh yes! I totally forgot about The Descent! That's a good one! Also, I thought the movie The Ruins was pretty scary.

Scary movies have to give me the creeps for different reasons, it doesn't have to be about blood and gore. And for that reason I've always found The Skeleton Key quite eerie. Mainly because stuff like that really goes on.

I have always been a fan of scary movies- and scary books. The Exorcist book was much more frightening to me than the movie.

I think for me, the movies that I deem super scary have to do with the age *I* was when I watched them:

The Amityville Horror (GET OUT!)
The Shining (Twin Girls- *shudder*)
Nightmare on Elm Street (The girl clawing her way out of the body bag-eeeek!)
Stir of Echos (Kevin Bacon aside, that girl ghost stayed with me for months after I watched that movie. I lived in a big Victorian home at the time and I had to go downstairs at 6am every morning to get my coffee. That bitch felt like she was right behind me the whole time).
The Ring (*sob*)
I know there are more I am not remembering now, which is FINE. LOL

Scary/Horror/Thriller/Suspense movies this day and age are all so dumbed down and sophomoric. This one is a notable exception in my book.
Oh, wow! This is enough incentive for me to rent it!

I am not a fan of horror flicks, so that said I havn't seen alot of scary movies, but out of the few that I have seen I would have to say " Jaws ". I know now if you were to watch it today, you would not be scared, but I saw this when it was first released, many years ago, and sometimes when i'm in the ocean, thoughts of that movie race through my mind. Even when it first came out, I would get spooked in the pool. So that movie definitely affected me, and still does today.
