Default Mirage 5.1 Surround Mix

Does anybody else notice how much louder Only Over You is than the rest of the songs? It's really obvious on mine. As a matter of fact and even though I absolutely love some of the new mixes I find the album to be inconsistent sound wise. The drums are the most different sounding song to song. The bass drum and the snare. I don't notice things like that with the other surround mixes. I'm not knocking it. I love it, I just think it's not consistent.

I agree but it's great in places. Disgusted Tango won't have it.

Mirage 5.1 is mind-blowingly fantastic and wildly inconsistent. "Book of Love" and "Gypsy" have really harsh compression which essentailly kills the low-end /bass. But from "Only over you" and after, all the songs are (mostly) nice and even. So yeah, "Only over you" is boominlgy loud coming after "gypsy" (which has no bottom end). I find "Straight Back" to be the highlight of the 5.1 mixes — but the bass on that is massive (and rocking.) I do hate that "Book of Love" "Gypsy" and "Cant go back" have such thin bass in their mixes. (But I adore the weirdness that is discovered in the "Only over You" 5.1 mix: tons of marching snare drum, gongs, bizarre percussion & especially Lindsey's Big-Love-Style "ahhs")

Nice breakdown. My sentiments exactly.

I was listening to the Tusk 5.1 last night and it's really done well. Maybe not as many surprises, but very consistent.
