Default When did Peter leave Fleetwood Mac for the last time?

I know he departed but came back when Jeremy went with the Children Of God. I'm guessing it was around June 1970 or so when he left?

Do you mean when he OFFICIALLY left the band, or "when the Kiln House tour ended"?

Officially I guess. Were those dates fairly close together?

Peter first left the band at the end of May 1970. As you note, he returned to fill in for Jeremy on the band's early 1971 US tour, beginning in mid-February. Not sure when the last date of that '71 tour was.....sometime in April? And as I'm sure you know, Peter contributed guitar to a couple of later Fleetwood Mac songs - "Night Watch" from Penguin and "Brown Eyes" from Tusk.

Might have been contractual - he was with PVK at the time of 'Tusk'. But presumably he had no contract in early '73 when 'Penguin' was recorded, so who knows? Maybe he didn't want to be credited.

That
may be true, but on its surface, I just find it rather disrespectful.

According to Bob Welch (I think), Peter didn't even know he was being recorded...supposedly, he just was playing along (for fun) to the track during the playback of a take. It wasn't as if he was actually sitting in on a session. It was decided later to keep what Peter played. I'll bet it was a very similar situation during "Brown Eyes", too.

That sounds pretty plausible. I do remember Bob talking about the Penguin sessions and meeting Peter. I don't recall what he said about Peter's recording but I do remember he was intrigued that Peter had a piece of cheese in his hair for about three days. Bob said something like:

"I can't guarantee that I would never have a piece of cheese in my hair, but I can guarantee that it wouldn't be there three days later."

Maybe they didn't even tell him he would be on the final mix...?
For me, that's the best guitar playing on the album. On all the post-Green albums. .Up until the Brown eyes on "Tusk"
