Default Jeremy Spencer Band Flee 1979

There's been a lot of activity on Jeremy Spencer lately and I hope I have some more good news for fans. I'm pretty sure that the Jeremy Spencer Band Flee album from 1979 is being reissued on cd. I had noticed that Jeremy's name was listed on the upcoming releases at Woundedbird.com., as I then wrote to them asking which album was getting a re-release? Their one word response was "FLEE". This is all I know, I don't know the date but hopefully sometime this year.

I'm not sure Jeremy will be all that pleased about that. In recent interviews he didn't have many nice things to say about that album, and added that it was best forgotten. The disco stuff irks me a bit, but I like the songs that survived the disco mauling

The one I'd really like to see on CD is his first album, given that the "JS and the Children" isn't likely to get a CD release.

At the time of Flee's release, the disco-sounding tunes irked me, but 25+ years down the road, I find them kind of refreshing (although, still a couple of them are a bit long). The album actually has held up for all this time, to my ears. I would imagine that from what Jeremy has said about the happenings that he went through in recording the album, they would taint his overall view of the album...but despite that, he made one FINE album. Side two, especially, is just brilliant! From Jeremy's previous penchant for down-to-the-details parody, to me, Flee seemed like Jeremy was just parodying Disco on side 1 and the then current Fleetwood Mac on side 2. "Cool Breeze" easily could've been a Stevie Nicks song, "You've Got The Right" could've been a Lindsey Buckingham song, & the title cut, I could hear Christine McVie doing that one.

Absolutely

Right from the first time I heard it, I was imagining Lindsey doing "You've Got The Right". I've never heard Jeremy actually say he was parodying the BN-era Mac, but he must have been - it's just too close! I wonder if he was just letting everyone know that he could have cut it musically in the Rumours band if he'd wanted to, just in case we were in any doubt?

Jeremy could cut it in any Mac line up.. Hell, if you can cut it with Greeny in his prime you can cut it with anyone.

I couldn't have said it better myself!

Well, if WB/Rhino ever gets around to finishing the remaster of the rest of the Fleetwood Mac catalogue, Jeremy's first album should be included with the remaster of Then Play On, as it originally was intended to be the companion album for.

Jeremy Spencer & The Children is another EXCELLENT album that is ripe for a remix/remaster job, but unfortunately, I would question if the original master tapes exist in Columbia/Sony's vaults (unless Jeremy has possession of them).

I remember Jeremy saying the master tapes had been lost in a fire. Here's the thread:

Still, stranger things have happened with "lost" masters re-appearing.

Well, it is common practice to have "safety masters" (1st generation copies of the master tapes) stored in a separate location...so there MIGHT be a set of tapes somewhere.

I'm woefully behind on my computer music production, but couldn't they just copy the album and fix any pops and snaps with Pro Tools?
