Do you, too, dislike Billy Burnette?

FM was just never meant, to have a front man.

Or front woman, for that matter!

Enough with the back and forth. If you don't like one another, use the block feature. There's no need for further discussion about who is most annoyed or most annoying.

I honestly think this is all tongue in cheek....

It's all good discussion..

Very good FM and Billy Burnette discussion. The argumentative personal posts have been removed so that the Post-Rumours line up reflections can continue unimpeded.

Rick could have held his own quite nicely as a replacement for Mr Buckingham, and while Billy wasn't in the same league as a guitarist, he certainly brought a fresh new sound and feel to the Mac, something that Rick on his own probably wouldn't have achieved.

I guess it could be argued that Buckingham's style really didn't have a place in the band in 1975 either, but that didn't seem to work out too badly for them.

I think that Rick, Billy and later Bekka Bramlett were under-utilised in the band, were not given the freedom to create their own sound. Nicks and Buckingham had it easy in 1975, they weren't expected to write hits, but Rick, Billy and Bekka had a lot of pressure simply because of the history of the band.

Sure, they should have been allowed to do their own thing, create their own music, and be true to themselves. That they didn't really get that opportunity wasn't really their fault.

Honestly though, give me Rick and Billy over Lindsey any day...
I knew I liked you!!!! Couldn't possibly agree with you more!!! Nicely said!!!

Just looking at this article where Mick talked about Lindsey's guitar orchestra idea in November 1987, when he discussed how he brought Billy and Rick in.

http://bla.fleetwoodmac.net/index.ph...2&id=6021&c=18

``It was democratic, but in terms of initiating, I`d have to say I was at the reins,`` Mick Fleetwood said. ``When this all came down the tubes with
Lindsay, I said, `Well, rather than rolling over and dying, let`s at least try what I think will work really well.` Everything was set to rehearse anyhow.
And you know, Lindsay at one point had ideas of having three other guitar
players-having a little orchestra of guitars.``

Damn did I miss jumping to Dave Walker's defence in a thread? I guess it was in the wrong forum so I must have missed it! Thanks for stepping in there David!
