We'll have to see whether she made the right call on not participating. As the first FM collection with the full classic lineup since 1987, an album with Stevie arguably would have had to live up to higher standards than SYW.

And what I've heard so far doesn't lead me to believe this album would be even as good as that. And given that Stevie doesn't sound so great either these days (or write that well), I'm not sure a few songs from her would have helped it much.

The 10-track length suggests they were saving space for Stevie. Or maybe they held some songs back in the hopes that Stevie might participate in a future album in the next year or two

Say you will, Stevie? Or skip it and make 24K-2.
That's just what you want to believe. Whether or not she liked any of the tracks probably didn't have anything to do with it. However, she would be more motivated not to do the project if she liked the songs. She was already outclassed on Tango and wouldn't want to look bad again.

SYW is better than Mirage and Tango.

Default Syw

Where did the 'SYW is better than...' come from? I think it could be better than Tango, certainly, in an abridged form. But better than Mirage? I don't know about that one... All three of them were still writing some pretty good material (except for Empire State which will never EVER be good). Tough call. Each of those albums have some of the highest highs, but also some of the lowest lows.

This second single though, not a basement dweller like Empire State, but no Gypsy/GYOW/Everywhere either. Pleasant enough...but oh so sappy. Distractingly so.

She sucked on Tango and didn't want to be humiliated again.

Except for Seven Wonders which she didn't write and her harmonies on Little Lies yes she did. However Feel About You is worse than any song on Tango or any song on any of the five "Rumours" band studio albums. If it is one of the better songs on the album she would have to really try to be terrible to have some that were even worse.Without You is pretty awful though so she might have a chance.

I don't care if she made the right call on not participating. It's not as if she refused to share her material with FM because she knew the album was gonna fail. She clearly didn't have any material to share. Period.
It's not as if she purposely dodged a bullet. She's not that literate, musically speaking, to know when something doesn't work. Gimme a break!

Did you listen to all of SYW? All 18 songs? I thought you didn't.

I don't agree with you about Feel About You, but this is pretty funny.

I like Mirage better than Say You Will, but like Say You Will better than Tango in the Night.

Me too. Of all three, SYW has the most substance but Mirage is just so delightful.
